Thug 2 was amazing
Aggressive Inline was straight up garbage with some of the goals
It's like the devs said 'hey let's just put in unrealistically hard objectives to make it longer and skip on fun parts"

Aggressive Inline was awesome, was my 1st extreme sports game, still pop it in.
Tony Hawk 4 took some stuff from it, and thats why Tony Hawk 4 is the best one too.

I miss these games so much

Did anyone play THPS5? Was it able to capture some of the magic that these games had?

THPS4, THUG and THUG 2 were my absolute favorites.

Yup it did a lot of things first that Tony Hawk and other games would later borrow from it.

- In order to increase your stats, you'd have to practice your skills. Rather than collecting stat icons throughout the level like you would in Tony Hawk, you'd have to grind in order to collect XP for your grind Stat.

- Completing goals would change the layout of the stage.

- No timer to stress about. Just chill out and skate.

Game is really underrated. Similar to Dave Mirra 2, it did suffer from later goals being extremely difficult.

Nope. It's almost the complete opposite. Like, it almost feels like a THPS game but completely devoid of soul. It's the only game that made feel slightly depressed because you remember how fun the games were growing up and that we will never see a proper sequel like them again.

Can you elaborate? I mean, this game is only $15-20 new right now. I've been well aware of the somewhat meh reception. Going in with fairly low/modest expectations.

Though I get what you mean about the game being a bit depressing though. I guess the worst thing would be if I tried playing it and I only wanted to go back to the PS2 games. For what it's worth, Project 8 and Proving Ground depressed me a bit. I was still able to enjoy American Wasteland though.

It's amazing. I remember playing it with my bro. If I remember it well enough, it played a lot like ssx tricky.
