http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/29/onlive-ceo-reveals-entirely-new-approach-to-wireless-credits

onlive suggest they've found a way to 'break' effectively shannon limit, a previously thought hard coded limit on radio tranmission, say they've done it 10x and can go up to 100.

well that's

hm

Wait, this doesn't sound like this has anything to do with latency at all.

clearly you'd be able to directly wirelessly connect to someone a continent away

with uh a x10 increase in radio si

okay look shut up

I am tired of nubs confusing latency with bandwidth.

Short of violating the speed of light, it is physically impossible to move a signal from one coast of North America to the other in under 1 ms.

latency is what makes my games visual and input lag, it's a sad affair

bandwidth is why it takes my youtube and porn forever to load

I'm all over it

wouldn't it be like

4,180 km/ 3x10^8m = 0.014

so technically if you ignore refractive index, imperfect materials, that latency is usually measured as round trip....

oh right ms you're still right goddamnit

look shut up
