- Characters have no recollection of OoT events. Due to only beating it once, and having took so long to beat, I forgot some of the plot details at the beginning. I'm not sure if it was explained, but it seems stupid that no one knows who link is.

Majora's Mask doesn't take place in Hyrule.

I'm sure someone who is more savvy on Zelda's plotline can enlighten you about why a lot of the characters in Termina look just like characters in OoT.

This game was horrible. It cons far outweigh the pros, among them being that I didn't like some of the core gameplay like the hour limit and dungeon design. 8/10.

been putting it off since like 2001. After about 6 power outages, 1 game freeze, and having to replay each dungeon 2-3 times due to said things, i finally beat it. Clocked in at around 13hr 40min. Did several side quests, etc. So..

Pros:

- The side quests were fun and add a lot of playtime

- Nice atmosphere, better than OoTs. Characters felt more alive.

- Nice mask variety. Cool powers, and nice designs.

- Different forms added welcome variety to the game. I get bored of using same form too long.

- bunny hood and song of soaring. Tedious traveling is boring and not fun.

Cons:

- Eligy of emptiness. Played too often, and takes too long to finish.. Do I really have to see the small cutscene each time a statue is formed? doesn't help that you usually have to use it 3 times in a row.

- Too much menu use. Since you only get 3 quick buttons, this was extremely annoying.. Especially in dungeons where you need different forms, and different weapons.. Constantly going through the menus was driving me crazy at times. oh noes i got bunny hood on, gotta take that off and go in menu again............

- 72 hour time limit. Yes, even with the inverted song of time, this limit was extremely annoying, especially during dungeons. Starting over regardless if you got the "item" to make it easier isn't fun.

- Tedious and repetitive. I found it annoying that I had to do many of the same tasks over and over.. Like collecting all my items again, recollecting quests, having to beat some dungeons like snow one again just to remove the snow from the goron village again, etc. Some of these are downright stupid like the last.

- useless songs. A lot are one time use, and seem lame for even being included.

- Characters have no recollection of OoT events. Due to only beating it once, and having took so long to beat, I forgot some of the plot details at the beginning. I'm not sure if it was explained, but it seems stupid that no one knows who link is.

- Stone tower and water dungeon were pretty horrible. Whoever decided you need to replay the eligy song 3 times every time you want to make it back to the stone tower should be ran over by a church van. These were just annoying dungeons overall. Water moreso(just like oot).,

- not as good as oot, i expected it to be as good after all the hype, and it winning game of the decade

I'm sure there are more flaws. I expected more due to the games hype on the site. OoT remains one of my favorite games(replayed it last year), and I consider it to be clearly superior. What's with OoT looking like it has better graphics as well? Anyways, it was fun and I still plan to collect all the masks.

8/10 overall

oh okay, that explains that than >_>

@ angelo. I place it at 7.5 to 8.. It leans more towards 8. Despite it's flaws, I still had fun, and the side quests were entertaining. I liked the atmosphere in the game, and overall shift from the traditional zelda storyline.

At the end of OoT, Link was sent back in time before anything in OoT ever happened. Ganondorf was prosecuted and Link went off adventuring. This is where the " split timeline " theory comes from.

I think the reason most people look the same is because of copy pasta, but if you wanna get technical they never met Link.

The time limit in conjunction with the horrible save system that i forgot to mention is one of the worst things i've seen to date in a game. With that said I'm dropping it to a 7.5. It might go up when I finish the side quests and collecting all the masks.

And the "split timeline" theory follows two different Links, one as the adult who defeated Ganon and saved Hyrule, then kept the Master Sword and went on as the Hero of Time. While the second Link was the kid version, he put the Master Sword back in the pedestal after defeating Ganon and went back to his childhood (the ending we saw in OoT). I was under the impression that the stuff he did as a kid remained in tact, but he never really saved Hyrule at that stage, so no one really knew of him. And even if they did, that was Hyrule. Kid Link then traveled to Termina, a completely different land with completely different problems.

I can't remember why Termina has characters that look like the ones from OoT, I think it was because Termina was some kind of darker version of Hyrule or some such.

What the hell the sidequests are like the primary focus of the game. If you haven't done all the sidequests it's like you haven't even played it at all.

Wait, I know it's been forever and all, but don't you just skip to the boss room if you want to melt the snow/beat any dungeon again?

>_>

I never understood why people had so much trouble with Majora's time limit. It was way more than enough time to do everything needed. Restocking items? learn the spawn points or just abuse the Rupee chests in the town and buy to your heart's content.

Man, now I want to replay Majora again. Try for a faster 100% run.

Save and time systems aren't even that bad....I mean you have to be pretty terrible at the game to not be able to do certain stuff in a certain amount of time. No offense.

The design wasn't bad, but i hated that..

- I had to backtrack too much

- had to change forms a lot, which led to lots of menu use and item swapping

- had to play the elegy song a lot, including 3 times every time I revisited the dungeon(why oh why not make the owl statue on the other side???)

- had to replay the dungeon 2 times due to a power outage(not games fault, but added to frustration and fueled hatred).

- too many damn fairies in the chests.. I was going for all the chests, and expected goodies or even keys at times, and always a fairy that could have just been placed in an orb somewhere.

etc

Having to recollect items for playing the song of time is terrible for one. Feeling forced to choose certain days to do quests/dungeons, or risk not having enough time was annoying. It led to more song playing, recollecting items, repetitive tasks, etc.

Recollect items? If you mean like seeds and bombs or w.e, that can be replenished easily simply by calling Epona and running over the grass on your way to the dungeon. >_>
And I think there was only like one sidequest(that I can remember) that was infuriating because of the time, because if it ran out you would lose an item that actually mattered, and I think it was for the Gorons, other than that I can't think of an item that wasn't easily replaced.

Come to think of it, it was only some sidequests where you would lose items that actually mattered. Unless I'm forgetting something, I dunno my last play through was 2 years ago, and I can't remember if it was the unmelting of the Gorons, or trying to get into their race or w.e

Why does it seem like no one but me ever likes Water Temples?

Oddly enough, they're always among my favorite temples in Zelda games. I guess because I have an affinity for water. I also looooove swimming around as a Zora and wish there had been more of it in Majora's Mask.

Loved Majora's Great Bay Temple.

Stone Tower though is the best.

Hmm, I think I'll agree with that. Great Bay Temple is among my favorites, but the mini-boss and the boss were both pretty bad. The rest of the temple was fun. Stone Tower Temple, however, has amazing atmosphere, amazing puzzles, one of the best mini-bosses ever, and the boss itself isn't so bad either.
