Much as I love the X-Wing and Freespace series, until now I'd always been put off Wing Commander by the fact that it being one of the first in its genre made it incredibly basic and simplistic.
But once I gave it a proper shot and got to grips with the unusual control scheme, it turns out that same simplicity is what gives it a lot of its charm, and I had loads of fun going through it. Wish Spirit was in it more though, she's cute...
Anyway, thanks to a bunch of CDs from my old school fete last week I have every game in the main series apart from III (and eBay will provide), so on to Secret Missions 1!

Damn, SM1 starts out pretty hard. On my fourth attempt I finally made it back to the Claw in one piece, but along the way I'd failed every objective and my wingman died. Doubt I'll be blitzing through the expansion in a week like I did the original campaign.
Weird thing is, the WC1 mission that's supposedly the hardest in the entire series, and was put in there to make it practically impossible to get the good ending on a first playthrough, I aced first time.
