It's been a while since I filled it up with oil, and I've known for at least a week now that I needed to get on that, but today I finally got the chance, while I was driving it, I was on my way to the gas station, and it suddenly started making a really loud noise when accelerating. And it's still doing it after putting the oil in too. So I guess I waited too long (because I'm an idiot) and now my car may be dead.

And if that's true, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I have no money, no longer have a job, and now even if I do get a job, I don't have a car to get there. Oh my god. I am seriously f***ing depressed right now. I love that car, I don't know what I'm gonna do.

Wait are you just "putting oil in" or did you get it changed? Also, is public transit a possibility where you live?

Was just putting oil in. There's a small leak that can't really be fixed (it was a used car) so I have to refill the oil about every month. I waited too long this time.

That's not really important right now, because even if I still had that (horrible) job, I wouldn't have a car to get to it. And that job was 30 minutes away, in Illinois.

Is there a public transit system where you live? I wrecked my car about a month ago and thought I was really screwed but the transit system was better than I thought it was. Might be worth checking out.

There's probably buses, but I have to walk a mile or so to get to the nearest stop. And the buses around here are pretty terrible quite honestly.

It's just a loud acceleration noise, I presume it's coming from my engine or around it. I really don't know much about cars, so I'm just guessing. The only way I can explain the noise is if I compare it to a sports car with a loud engine when accelerating, it's kind of like that, only it sounds wrong.

That seems like an odd way to solicit votes, but if you're right and my car gets fixed, then I will vote for you. Maybe you can elaborate a bit more on this exhaust header thing. I mean, it really has been a while since I filled the oil, like when I checked it, the dipstick pretty much had no oil on it, making me think it was pretty much empty.
