and there was a ridiculous amount of backsplash occuring.. i felt countless drops sputter onto my leg and my boat shoes that i was wearing.. has this happened to anyone before? do i need to wash or clean my boat shoes and get rid of that ****?

I would say yes you should clean these items. And maybe stand further from the toilet, try standing a few feet back, maybe in the middle of the bathroom floor. Also aim up and go for an arc.

Next time, try to aim as straight up as possible. It will cut down on the horizontal momentum of the urine. Thus, when the urine hits and maybe splashes, it won't shoot back out the other way towards you, it will instead reflect back upwards and safely remain in the urinal confines.

ok i realize the error of my ways regarding the urinal, but i need suggestions on how to clean the leather boat shoes and rid them of the backsplash crap. i am reading that water products will mark them. what should i do?
