Well what's the point of spending if they use it for things like green energy startup business incentives and homebuyer tax credits?

honestly I don't see the problem with double-dip

it's not like you're slathering all your saliva all over the chip when you take a bite... I usually break off a large part of the chip when I eat it so my lips don't even come close to the part that gets double-dipped

I also don't mind double-dip but I would never argue with someone who did. Plus double-dip just means the one fat guy in the room eats twice as much dip.

I just turn whatever I'm eating onto its other side so there's no contact between where I took a bite and the dip. Not that hard, folks!

What, you're gonna let one double-dipper ruin an entire tub of dip for you? That's a little unreasonable...

I discovered this concept when I was like 6 years old and it amazes me that other people still haven't figured it out.

On topic though, the spending cuts are pretty bad. There's a reason why I am going to a private university. They actually have the ability to allow me to take classes, and get the full financial aid that I need to actually be able to finish my degree. Meanwhile, the University of California and California State University systems keep getting more and more cuts and tuition hikes, and as a result, people are dropping out. It's kinda scary to see that.

^5 for private universities. That was one of my reasons too. My school's tution is going up about 1.5% (but they're also adding a ton of crap to go with it) while the flagship public school in my home state is raising tuition about 5.5% every year and that's going to continue, especially now.

That's pretty bad, but it's not as bad as some things in California. In 2007, the tuition for one California State University near me was about $2,772 a year. Now, it is $4,884. Still relatively affordable compared to other schools, especially private schools without financial aid, but that is still an over 176% increase in tuition.
