A really bad Otherland ranking which weirdly enough contains the epilogue short story as a fifth entry. Not to mention the short story apparently beats the second half of the main series. What the hell is wrong with you?

Barring that obvious solution, I'll go with an uncommon series ranking of either Suikoden or Breath of Fire.

And if it isn't a game again, then it's clearly Resident Evil movies. Nevermind that I have no idea if there are even five of them or anything.

I'd probably rank the NES close to the bottom just due to the fact that I haven't spent an extensive amount of time with it. Mostly just the Mario games and the Mega Man games, and a few sports games.

GameCube being last isn't that bad either.

I think there are a bunch of good games on the NES that have aged really well. The Marios, Punch-Out!! (still one of the funniest games around), Contra, Mega Man II, Zelda 1... etc. I also still enjoy games like Clu Clu Land, Ice Climber, Rad Racer and Mach Rider as much as ever, though I can see how some would find those titles dated.

In general, though, it does seem like the NES's reputation has really taken a nose-dive in the past two/three years. Not entirely sure what's up with that.

SNES > N64 > Wii > NES >= GameCube

There are a few really, really good games on the GameCube. It's far from a console "dud with a thud", as they say. They being me. But so much of the library's remainder is bad.

That said, the NES is chock full of more shovelware than you can shake every DS iteration at. But it has more quality titles on it overall -- even if they're drowning in the bad. So it's pretty close.

As for my ranking of the Wii, take a deep breath and get over it. :)

I've honestly enjoyed the Wii quite a bit. I know it gets a lot of hate, but there's a lot I personally like about it. It has one of my top three Mario games, my personal favorite Smash (though I'm fully willing to admit Melee is objectively better), a stronger third-party lineup than the N64 and GameCube, and one of the best games in my favorite series: WarioWare. Also, I actually like the controller. >_>

The last three systems are all fairly close, though; especially the N64 and GameCube. There isn't a single Nintendo console I've disliked - even if you're counting the Virtual Boy!

I just think it's weird that, if that's the case, it didn't happen sooner. I mean, not many 90s kids grew up on the NES, and yet the system's reputation was undeniably stronger last gen!

Maybe the increased availability of NES titles has had something to do with it: more people are trying them, and thus, more people are walking away disappointed. But there wasn't a dearth of NES ports on the GBA, either...

Well, I think the people who are old enough to have an NES in its prime are obviously not gaming as much anymore as they get older, and you've got the younger gamers coming up all the time who have no experience with it.

The SNES will get there sooner or later, sadly, although we've probably still got a little ways until then since the SNES was making games as late as '96-97.
