i went to peter frampton a few weeks ago and the last song he played before the encore was black hole sun

it was pretty awesome

yeah it was great

he played all of frampton comes alive, which is a great album in it's own right, and it was surreal to see "do you feel like we do?" live in concert after hearing it on the radio so many times

then he played black hole sun with his own twist on it (using the voicebox thing) and then came back after the encore and played my favorite song of all time, "while my guitar gently weeps"

he played three hours, it was amazing

black keys are outstanding live. haven't seen them with their new set-up, though. they sold-out a 10,000 capacity outdoor venue in like a day earlier this year. good for them.

roots are great live, too.

Roots were awesome - they basically just jammed for an hour fifteen.

I've seen The Black Keys twice - once in 2007 and once in 2009 - but never as a main event. It'll be cool to see them get to rock out in front of 25k+ tomorrow.

I've seen them twice. Once, opening for Beck in 2002, and once headlining at a theatre in 2007. I've heard nothing but good things about their shows the last few years. sounds like adding two musicians to their live shows has gone well for them.

it's Vancouver's 125th birthday this year and the city of Vancouver is putting on a bunch of shows this weekend. I get to see The New Pornographers, Neko Case, and Dan Mangan, all for free! Mother Mother are playing, too, but I don't really like them.

mangan is a cool dude. i've never paid to see him, i kind of feel bad. he was one of the thousands of musicians who played for free during the olympics, and the last time he was in town, my girlfriend's best friend was promoting the show so we had free tickets and met up with him after.
