The only games on the Wii that belong in this same league are the two Super Mario Galaxies, and the only N64 game that is in the same league is Super Mario 64.

None of the games I mentioned are of questionable quality, and RE4 was released for the GameCube first and is usually considered to be a GameCube game.

You don't see people considering Metroid Prime to be multiplatform.

Thing is, these four games are what makes the GameCube a superior console to the Wii, which just has Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, and especially the N64, which just has Super Mario 64.

Wind Waker is a respectable game, I just find it subpar for Zelda. It beats most of what other developers are making but it has the unfortunate burden of being sandwiched inbetween Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess....or being at the exact center of OoT-SS, and SS is looking like it might finally be the Zelda that tops OoT too.

And this is the main reason why I consider Ocarina of Time to be the most overrated game of all time: because those who consider it to be some god-tier game then consider The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to be subpar, when, in reality, they're both superior to both the N64 Zeldas.

And A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda, so don't blabber on about me not being able to appreciate older games. It's just the N64 era I find especially overrated - for me, Super Mario 64 and StarCraft are the only things in the 10/10 league from that timeframe.

According to wikipedia, Capcom announced in 2007 that RE4 had sold 1.6M for the GCN and 2M for the PS2 worldwide. Whether that's true or not, it's well known the game sold well on both the GCN and the PS2. It was certainly an advantage for the GCN at the time that it released about nine months earlier on it, but it's definitely a multiplat in terms of its sales split.

It's just the N64 era I find especially overrated - for me, Super Mario 64 and StarCraft are the only things in the 10/10 league from that timeframe.

I don't get into numerical ratings but OoT, MM, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Cross, and Perfect Dark are better IMO. SM64 is more overrated than OoT or FFVII could ever hope to be, in spite of those games being much more well loved.

Eh I prefer Super Mario 64 to both N64 Zeldas. Like I said, it's currently my favorite game from that gaming generation.

My opinion on major titles on post-SNES Nintendo systems:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 > Super Mario Galaxy > Resident Evil 4 > The Wind Waker > Super Mario 64 > Metroid Prime > Smash Bros. Melee > Twilight Princess > Majora's Mask > Ocarina of Time > Smash Bros. Brawl

I just get sick of people talking about "death of Nintendo" nowadays.

Very true, and it's why I'm jumping ship to Sony in about a month.

Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill are all waiting in the wings for me, so I'll see about the PS1's role in that gaming generation.

The only thing I find great about Brawl is how much you can modify it...which you can only do because the Wii is easier to hack than the GC was, it has nothing to do with the actual game. I hope Nintendo adds that kind of customization into the stock game for Smash 4 but I highly doubt it.

i love MGS3 and all, but the fact that b8 thinks its the best mgs bar none makes me hate it every time i come to this board. Its absurd to think its the best mgs. 1 and 2 are way better. All are in my top 40 of all time or so, but 1 and 2 are top 15. 3 and 4 are in the 30s somewhere.

Regarding MGS3's general level of popularity, I've been to just about every so-called big-time MGS fansite since the beginning of the last decade and I've followed the MGS boards here for almost as long.

Among the mainstream, they're all amazing. Among the more dedicated fandom, MGS1 and MGS3 are far and away the most talked-about concerning "god-tier" in Kojima's franchise. And critically, MGS2 is the biggest darling but they're all really good. (And Gamespot has a huge crush on MGS4, but shh, don't tell anyone.)

Filtering everything else out, let's just go with MGS fandom at-large: 1 and 3 are the most common answers. So neither Demon Hunter X's, nor everyone else's, answer is totally off from the fandom's uber-generalized perspective. But putting MGS2 as "much better" than MGS3 isn't the most common statement.

End of the day, everyone's obviously entitled to their opinions. So on, so forth. I think Final Fantasy V is much superior to IV but a lot of folks disagree!
