Remember, insider trading is only illegal if you're not an elected official. So in other words, the people with the BEST insider information and the ones who can actually CHANGE policies are allowed to do whatever the hell they want.

Great, right?

Also hilarious:

Lying to congress is a crime which you can go to jail for.

Congress lying to us isn't even against Congress' own ethics code, let alone against the law.

Why don't we put all elected officials under oath before speaking to the press? Because then every single last one of them would be in jail.

Because then the press would immediately ask questions that force the officials to choose between sending themselves to jail and divulging information that would get people killed and destroy foreign affairs.

They can refuse to answer any question, whether under oath or not. This would just mean that the whole "who cares if I blatantly lie to the populace, it's legal for me to do so" attitude would be gone.

You don't think the media knows how to find a question where "no comment" means "yes you are perfectly accurate about that"?

They would just start no commenting EVERYTHING

Which is basically what they do now they just don't say it straight forwardly, they talk in circles.

No "us" involved

And yeah, Congress' ability to lie is vitally important for your country's interests. It shouldn't be abused or used outside of highly sensitive matters, but it needs to exist for those times.

I think it's mainly that nobody wants to willingly be seen agreeing with you on this kind of stuff anymore, so most don't get involved when they agree with you.

If you want to ever have any serious discussions about subjects like this then you probably need to make an alt and not tell anyone about it.

he's right though

yeah no one is comfortable with the level of dishonesty that our government regularly displays

but no one is comfortable agreeing with you in public either
