It's pretty clear in the ToU that it's against the rules, but it's hit or miss if it'll get hit or not.

I remember getting modded once for saying who won a quidditch match in The Order of the Phoenix. You know, when the outcome of a quidditch match didn't matter to the story at all anymore. I was pretty angry about that.

"Congrats!" - 15KL, 30 day purgatory for "Invasion/Board Wars" over the 25 millionth topic

*Posted a picture of me as a kid, saying it was me when I was a kid" - suspension then NKL for underage user. I was 16 at the time.

"Bump" - 45KL for disruptive posting in an overrated topic

"I have a configuration file that should replace the corrupted one, so you don't have to reinstall the game and install a few gigabytes in patches on your 56k modem just to play it." - 3KL for illegal activities. I left GameFAQs for over a year when that happened.

...Really? I mean, the mod system does suck, here, but there have been much more unfair moderations. Posting something against the ToS and then having a mod automatically delete it isn't really "overzealous." It's robotic, if anything, like somebody said.

The 45KL was not a single moderation. I got hit with some 3KLs, warnings, and a 15 (or 30?) KL right after. I might also be a bit off with the 45KL, but it was around there.

I count it as a 45KL because those moderations were all thrown at me within the span of two minutes.

That's just not true. Rather, the majority of the posters on this site don't actually know what the ToU says and believe theat everything they say is divine and therefore can't be deleted, because it's true/he deserved it/it's not illegal where I live/some other stupid reason.

I've always wondered something about the illegal activities rule. How far does it go? I know you can't talk about illegal activities, but is there some kind of limit to that? Can people talk about minor crimes like jaywalking?

I ended up getting suspended, of course. Then SBAllen gave me the 15 or 30KL. Don't remember which.

At any rate, this was all in one topic, at one time. Correct me if I am wrong, but if there's an issue with someone bumping a topic, isn't it a good idea to just 3KL someone once? I still don't see the logic in handing me a few 3KLs, a few warnings, and a suspension within the span of two minutes for a single topic. Am I the only one who sees that as a bit excessive?

at this point everyone knows that the gfaqs moderation system is incredibly flawed and subjective. there's really very little reason to create these topics and complain because the mods will either 1. adamantly refute anything you say in the name of 'you guys just don't understand the system' or 2. say 'i personally wouldn't have done it that way but there's nothing you can do :/'

so, as much as it sucks, you gotta learn to deal with it.

edit: granted, not all moderations are unfair. just came to mind after seeing all the mod complaining that inevitably occurs in every 'wah i got modded' topic

I figure the logic behind modding blatant joke spoiler tags is that they dissuade people from listening to legitimate ones.
Context is also important. If it was done to mock mods, mods don't like that.

Quit revealing (and do not further reveal) mod information, please. You asked me to stop what I was doing that was getting me modded and were very civil, and for that, I appreciated it a lot. In fact, what you did would solve 90% of what pisses people off in regards to moderation. It changed my opiniopn of you, to be perfectly honest. But even saying "no you didn't" or whatever is beyond what you should be allowed to say. I'm just in this topic where people are posting stupid over-the-top things that happened during moderation, and this was one of them. I already argued with a mod on the matter and I'm not looking to do it further because I quite like this account, and I know arguing with a mod will get me banned. Thanks.
