All of the great music you're talking about still exists and is still created.

Are you really going to argue that there's still Bachs, Mozarts, Beethovens, and yes, Richard Strausses composing music today?

Everything is worse now, according to the internet.

-Movies suck, Hollywood is creatively bankrupt, no great actors, its all sequels and junk, etc

-Pro Wrestling sucks, its PG-rated, all the good wrestlers retired, I miss The Rock/Stone Cold/HBK, Cena is terrible, etc

-Comics suck, that's why nobody buys them, they cost too much, they don't make em like the old days, decompression, EIC are arrogant blowhards, stories are awful, etc

-Video games sucks, its all CoD/bam bam bam, I miss the 90s with its JRPGs, day-1 DLC, online passes, pre-order exclusive, paying for online pay, etc.

Hell, I've even heard someone talk about how TV sucks now, and that The Wire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sopranos, Game of Thrones, 24, etc don't hold a candle to uh...all those 80s sitcoms.

Also, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and every other great classical composer you care to name are only as famous as they are because they had hundreds of years of hype to make them that way. Looking at the composers around them chronologically, sure those great ones innovated and did lots to be worth being remembered but there are tons of pretty good composers no one knows about because they're not the best of the best. So to all the people whining about how music today sucks, wait a hundred years. I guarantee by then musicologists will have decided who the great composers worthy of being remembered from this era are.

Yeah - Frank Zappa is already getting some credit as a great modern-day composer. I can only hope he'll be put in the same category as Bach and Beethoven a hundred years from now!

But yeah, there are modern-day composers who do get a lot of credit. Philip Glass and Simeon ten Holt, for instance.
