It's hard not to appreciate Japan once you've visited. It isn't a perfect country - it has bad parts, just like every other nation that exists - but the problem I had with your remark wasn't that you weren't interested in Japan, it's that you thought the culture was terrible and ruining the world because animation and porn exist. You can't sum up the country in such a narrow-minded way. An interest in anime, in games - none of that is required to enjoy and appreciate Japan, because it doesn't exist on the back of those things. Not any more than America exists to ruin us all with comic books and Michael Bay movies.
