I use the internet on my phone a lot so I'm glad that they've finally decided to enter the present. You have them on every major carrier, and even if you want one on a budget, you can do that. I pay $25 a month for my Android phone (Optimus V) which includes 300 minutes and unlimited text/data. In fact, the Optimus V was sold out a lot this year, to the point where price increases were necessary because it was still sold out a month or two after release. The iPhone, meanwhile, still requires a big contract. iPhones are relatively expensive, and offer little choice. People like choice that goes beyond "AT&T or Verizon" and "iPhone 4 or 3GS" (on AT&T, anyway). There are dozens, if not hundreds of Android phones for every need. Blackberry strikes me as an Apple, but with much more variety. They are still seen as business phones, though, and just couldn't gain the popularity of iPhone or become as widespread as Android. Now, it can cost the same thing to own an Android I'm sure, but at least with that, you're not locked into a contract AT&T or Verizon. You can go with Sprint, you can do prepaid, you can do super cheap plans, whatever. I think that's a big reason why people in the US are going with Android. They would like an iPhone, but they want something a bit cheaper, or they want some other carrier.
