I really liked The Office (the US version) during its first few seasons. It was unique and refreshing back then - there really wasn't much else like it. But now... so many shows have used its formula to infinitely better effect, especially Parks and Recreation. I've tried going back to The Office, but even my old favorite episodes just seem so archaic now.
Anyone else agree with me on this? I'm legitimately curious.

It's been a downhill slope, but it's still pretty good. Not sure I approve of Michael leaving yet, depends on who the new boss is going to be. I'd have hoped for Will Arnet, but his character was awful.

Jim's one of the few characters I still like, along with Andy, Creed, Stanley and a couple others. I never liked Dwight at all, though - even back in the show's prime.

I hope it's Andy. If anyone can save this show, it's Ed Helms!

That said, yeah, it's not as good as it used to be. The show has a ton of great individual characters but they haven't really had a good office dynamic in a while. It's just Wacky Person A and Wacky Person B trying to out-wacky each other. Remember when Mindy Kaling used to have some good lines every now and again, or when B.J. Novak did interesting things? It's been a while, hasn't it?

Oh man, B.J. Novak. Ryan was never a particularly good character, but man, he just became totally worthless after a while.

Yeah, I mean I know he's not just an actor in the show, but I really never understood why BJ Novak was in the opening credits. He's barely as important as Angela or Kevin.
Definitely not unwatchable yet, although with Michael gone it could definitely trend that way.
He's been the heart of the show since Jim and Pam got together, and I'm curious to see what exactly the show will be about now now that Jim and Pam's arc is long complete and Michael has found happiness and jetted off to Colorado.

The show has had some pretty bland episodes the past few years. Jim and Pam have been two of the worst characters on TV after being very enjoyable for so long. I could complain for a good while, but, eh. I'll check out the next season opener and probably quit on the show the first time it's not very good this season, knowing there's probably a lot more of that ahead.

He's an executive producer, so he decided to have his name in the opening credits. B.J. isn't that much different from his character, very self-important.
EDIT: Oh, and Jim has been awful the past couple seasons. Andy, Dwight, and Darryl have been the only bright spot in the show for some time.

My Japanese alter-ego. Hey all this is Bartz btw.
Even with the bland episodes though, this last season proved they're still capable of classics.
"Classy Christmas" is a Top Five episode, and "Goodbye, Michael" is Top Ten. Although I guess to be fair that last one is a special circumstance.
EDIT: And even if the show does nosedive now that it has no direction, 6 full seasons of quality stuff (to varying degrees) is quite a lot for a sitcom.
Anything that gets more than 5 is pretty special.
