Yeah pretty sure "that Tingle game" is not only DS, but also released in PAL regions.

Mother 3 and Live a Live are absolute must plays. I also recommend the various Fire Emblem titles others have mentioned.

For Fire Emblem, Monshou no Nazo (SNES) is great as well (book 2 anyway). It was also remade for the DS, which is supposed to be much better, and probably isn't coming out outside of Japan.

I love how everybody recommended RPGs that he'll pretty much be unable to understand or appreciate since he's running them on actual physical software that won't be translated

Tingle did get another DS game in Japan that wasn't released in PAL regions as far as I know.

Then again, I wouldn't call the Tingle game GOOD anyways.

But Ouendan/2 are must-plays.

Yeah, definitely recommending Fire Emblem 4 and 5 for the SNES and the FE3 remake for DS.
