I typed a bunch of stuff about why I'm just so burned out, but I doubt anyone really wants to see a BlogFAQs post. To sum it up, I'm overstressed, backlogged on work, and I have the financial aid office breathing down my neck. I'm just exhausted. I wanted to get a lot of work done this weekend, but I was so burned out that I didn't do anything (and I usually don't let that happen).

Tips?

ugh I feel sort of the same way right now. I have a good amount of homework all due tomorrow and/or thursday and I didn't do ANY homework this weekend which is very unusual for me. I usually manage my time a lot better. as a result I feel overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do in, like, the next 6 hours and it's making it even harder for me to get myself started on it.

Sleep? Sounds like a good idea.

Funny thing about sleep - if I know I have something to do, I can't sleep. If I sleep, it is not for very long.

Stop going. That's what I did.

Going to be honest, I considered this a few years ago.

I would always go '**** it' for a couple days and not worry about anything

Pretty much what I did this weekend, but I'm feeling guilty about it.

100% the game as quickly as possible, then get back to work.

It's Minecraft >_>

Strange, it'S the opposite for me.

Sleep aids maybe? If you're feeling burned out you need to sleep and recover so like it or not you have to do it.

Gonna be honest here, you just have to keep pushing through.
When I was in school my schedule was so hectic that sometimes I wouldn't sleep for 2 or 3 days, and then get chewed out on a review for not having enough work. You just can't let yourself go there, because once you do it's hard to come out of.

Sleep aids maybe? If you're feeling burned out you need to sleep and recover so like it or not you have to do it.

I'm considering trying to get a prescription for them, but I have a caffeine addiction. As in, I tried to not have caffeine this weekend, and I got massive headaches and stuff until I had a soda with caffeine. I'm not sure how well sleeping pills will work.

Gonna be honest here, you just have to keep pushing through.

I was able to do this for the past few weeks, but then I just couldn't take it anymore :/
Maybe I will feel better tomorrow when I am back in school. At least, I'm hoping so.

You just can't let yourself go there, because once you do it's hard to come out of.

I definitely have experienced this as well.

The burnout really started after my dog died. I lost a few days of productivity over grief, and it backlogged me quite a bit. I pushed myself really hard (I've never used Red Bull in my life, but I started the week my dog got sick) and ended up getting good grades. I let myself sleep as much as I could, but now I just feel burned out.

The only thing that helped me was to get seven hours of sleep every night. Of course, that ended up being a pipe dream. Once I graduated, I slept for almost an entire month.

Honestly? School will be over soon, just try to get the grades to have made it worthwhile.

Advice from someone who went through what you're talking about and graduated/found employment:

Number one thing: find regular support. Someone to talk to. Family, an extremely close friend, maybe even a school-supplied counselor. That's what they're here for. If you can, find hugs. Friendly touching is important, believe it or not.

Food, water and ibuprofen. Make it easy to get sustinence without leaving your living space.

Write lists of things to do, break them into smaller pieces. Tackle one at a time.

Maybe try sleeping pills- the strong kind. Nothing sucks more than getting screwed over by sleeping pills that don't work. Go to sleep extremely early- like 8pm. Leave yourself 12 hours before you have to wake up.

If you're really desperate, get a prescription for adderal. Not the wimpy time release kind. Focus on how that will make your tasks ("work") a new and fun experience. It'll turn you into superman for a while. I say don't use this unless you need to, not because it's bad but because you may find you want to go back to the old you later. It's sort of a one-time boost.

depending on how much more you got left:

power through or leave.
after you power through, break. alternatively, if you don't like either extreme, a part time schedule. or the min necessary for financial aid (12 credits).

Thanks again, everyone.

I've been wondering if I need something like Adderall. Sometimes I can focus deeply on a task, but a lot of the time I find that I get off-track and need to multitask. I really should get myself checked.

alternatively, if you don't like either extreme, a part time schedule. or the min necessary for financial aid (12 credits).

Last semester, I dropped a class and I ended up having 12 units instead of 16. That's actually why financial aid is upset with me; dropping a class isn't a problem, but it is if it makes you drop below a certain number of units depending on how many units you have. Juniors are supposed to have 15 units each semester, and I'm actually in a deficit of 2 units by not taking 18 units this semester (must average to 15 units, but financial aid said that people who try to take 18 units after dropping a class are rarely successful). It's really dumb.

Great. Was going to try to be productive this weekend. Now I have a stomach flu or something. I feel that this was partially brought on by stress and lack of sleep. :(

What I do is do all my projects with someone else. I know I won't do any of this crap myself, but if I don't wanna let Seth or Andrew or Monique down I'll actually do it. Plus, being around other people is good for you.
