Don't bother getting the achievements, you'll hate the game. The main story is fantastic and far superior to the second game. Just stick with the main story and don't do any of the side-quests. There are like 3 types of quests you can do, and maybe 50 quests total. You would think this means 50 different areas, right? Nope. There are literally 3 areas which get recycled for every quest.
