I find it kind of odd that not only will Batum be making $10+ million a year, but that the Blazers matched a deal that another team was going to give him that kind of cash
I know that Birdman has legal issues, but my heart is torn if the Mavs should go after him or West with their mini-level exception or whatever their special cap space thing is called.
... why else would I want to cheer for the Knicks if not for Lin? I've got my own favorites and neither of my teams are very popular or have been in the playoffs for several years now so I don't readily jump on bandwagons. I cheered for the Knicks during that run because it was fun to watch. You know, stuff that gets popular usually gets popular because a whole bunch of people like it. The guy was good and seemed to do a better job leading his team than supposed all-stars had done all season.
Oh and on a related note:
However, on that day, reports came out that the Houston Rockets had made an offer to Lin that might make it difficult for the Knicks to keep their guard. Since then, Lin has accepted the offer, and the Knicks have let him go and MSG is now trading at approximately $35.50, a drop of 8.5% in two weeks.
1.The best thing about the Lin situation is that the Knicks could've just signed him during the season but Dolan told him to shop around. Everyone knew someone would give him a loaded back end deal but Dolan is just...Dolan. Still I like Felton.
2.Batum is worth every single penny. He's a 20 year old athletic wingman with elite defense and three point shooting. Everyone knew someone was gonna offer him a loaded deal.
3.If the Lakers land Howard we're favorites in the West.

I don't think the Knicks wanted Lin but they appreciated what he did for them. He's streaky and will never play good defense and doesn't really fit well with the Knicks stars, even if they do like him. So when they say "we would pay a billion dollars for him" but then 30 million is too much (which is weird considering how the Knicks usually roll), I think they were probably just helping him get paid. Otherwise it's a "I would do anything for Lin but I won't do that" situation... then again it's the Knicks so

Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter? Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards.
Lakers success of the past handful of years has been dependent on their interior play and rebounding. Dwight is a top talent but I don't think it's a drastic upgrade from what the Lakers have succeeded with. I think Nash is the bigger upgrade - you don't lose much defense but they gain a go-to scorer that really opens up the interior. Nash is smart enough to know how to balance his role with what makes the Lakers successful.

The Lakers lost because we had no athleticism. None. In a league transitioning into the swingman era of long, athletic, elite wingspan everythings, the Lakers are a bygone vestige.
Howard fixes all that. He's athletic enough for an entire team. He single handedly turned the Magic into a top defense team on a team without any other decent defenders. THAT'S why he's a major upgrade.
As good as Bynum is down low, Howard is better defensively and athletically. We have enough scoring from Kobe/Gasol/Nash...Howard can get a crap ton of garbage buckets and putbacks which is what he does anyways.

I don't understand the complaint about advertising.
Sure it looks pretty bad on like, WNBA jerseys. But if you watch any Euro ball, the advertising doesn't really look bad at all, especially if it doesn't really distract from the team name, number and player name.

yeah 'oh man $100 million' does not sound that great to me when you consider how f***ing much players get paid as is and how rich the owners already are
