A friend I've known for almost 14 years is terminal with stage 3 thyroid cancer and it's seriously getting to me. The fact that we just had a conversation about making sure I'm able to visit before he dies is fucking with my head so much.

I mean I lost my grandmother to lung cancer when I was really young, and I've had a few friends survive breast cancer, but I've never had to deal with anything like this. He was diagnosed three years ago and it's been awful seeing what this has done to him.

Until this point it's been just a given in my head that he was going to be okay and it's just hitting me that no, he's not.

My grandpa(my father's father) had stomach cancer and a brain tumor at the same time.
I don't quite remember what killed him though.

My other grandpa(my mother's father) is currently suffering from dementia and prostate cancer.
I'm not sure what will eventually kill him but I don't think his cancer is that advanced yet.
His dementia is pretty bad though. He's pretty nuts and can even get kinda violent at times.

A girl I know became a feminist so I kinda know what it's like to lose someone to cancer.

I'm all for pithiness and wit but dude go f*** yourself.

Dang man just trying to make a little funny. No need to get all upset it's not like someone died of cancer.

No one close, just my one uncle's ex-wife. She babysat me as a kid, and was always super nice when we saw each other. She passed a couple of years ago.

A different uncle recently had a scare, they found cancer and removed it. Said he was fine, then later said they didn't get it all and it had spread. Then changed their minds again and said it was something else. His health has been kind of going up and down a lit since then. He's currently expected to pull through, last I heard, but they were apparently still trying to figure out if he actually still has it or not, and in oretty rough shape in the hospital,

No one really from my family .

But I had a neighbour who suffered from breast cancer. She was an elderly spinster and lived with her sister and niece. I was only 12 at the time and my mum would visit them twice a week and bring me along. She was mostly in bed; it was probably at the final stages as she couldn't even speak or swallow any sort of food being fed to her. She looked as though she was in constant pain..

I don't know what happened to her when I just eventually realised that she was no longer living at the villa. That made me really sad at that time and it still does give me a melancholy feeling whenever I think of her....

my dad (age 46), a cousin (age 23), mom's friend's daughter (age 26) just to name a few. Uncle died of a heart attack at age 37, so yeah, not terribly optimistic about my lifespan :/
