I'd rather hear an amazing bass solo than a generic guitar solo. Both bass and guitar are tough in their own ways.

Bass doesn't have enough pizzazz most of the time. It's easier to be flashy and stand out as a guitarist or a drummer. Or the singer lol.

Because "the bass lines requires less skill", or so say monkey hungry lead guitarists.

they're not put down. they're overlooked. because a guitar is much easier to tune one's ear to over a bass, thus most people end up doing that and not appreciating the bass work.

that, and some bass players are lazy as hell and don't get creative whatsoever.

leme tell you, john paul jones, flea, and the like weren't/aren't overlooked and certainly not put down.

All guitarists can play bass. Not all bassists can play guitar.

If I was in a band I'd gladly play bass. Just kinda hang out off to the side with no one paying attention to me.

Because a lot of bass players don't want to do amazing solos or anything​ too technical a lot of the time.

And bass is usually the easiest instrument to play in a band. Like if you can play guitar, you can pick up a bass no problem usually.

Bass players are generally all about rhythm and don't really have a need for a solo. A nice slap bass solo is cool though.
