I'm not big on companions in the Beth style games to begin with. I prefer to go it alone because they seem kind of in the way a lot. ED-E is still useful but lacks the power of a character like Boone, which I enjoy. My character should be the one in the spotlight. ED-E just feels like a true assistant, which is what I really want out of a companion from those games. Plus it's nice that you also own him yourself. He's like a robotic pet. It's the same reason I liked having Dogmeat around in Fallout 3. Plus, ED-E was the highlight of Lonesome Road.
