Man I live in such a great state for craft beer....Texas.

Up here in DFW the craft beer scene has exploded. From like 25 breweries when I moved here in 2014 to over 100 breweries now. All within an hour drive of the metroplex.

Little rock, Arkansas

It's actually pretty good. There are quite a few local brewers in the area for such a small metro, and brewers from other areas of the state are setting up recently

Oh hell ya the Midwest has great beer.

Due to awful Texas alcohol laws, getting beer from out of state can be a huge pain in the ass. We JUST got Bell's here.

However I find that the best IIPA around here is Fiddlehead Second Fiddle. Greatest beer ever.

You know, I have to edit this in..Founders' KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) might be my favorite, but that comes from Michigan.

Is there anything more disappointing than trying a new craft beer and being overwhelmed with the most flat tasting lager?

Such is life right now. Bought a bottle of Black Sheep Ale. Tastes like fucking budweiser.

But if you pop over to Tampa, it's decent.

I hate hoppy beer and most craft shit is hoppy as fuck so I don't bother. Plus it's often double the price of normal domestic stuff so even if I liked it I would rarely shell out for it.

I know it's cliche to say, but it really is an acquired taste. Your palette isn't used to the bitterness. Much like coffee at first

I'm 35 and had my fair share of hoppy shit over the years, it will never be good to me. It's not the bitterness either, it tastes like I'm drinking a plant which is gross.

tbh barrel aged/imperial stouts are pretty big right now and those generally aren't hoppy at all

we have a few good breweries scattered between BR and New Orleans (big fan of Tin Roof especially), but this cut down on so many easily accessible campus hotspots that were able to bring in good beer from elsewhere

and here I am with an empty growler being teased by beer menus

Long Island, New York is alright. My brother had a plan with a friend to get started with their own craft brewery but never got anywhere. Started by moving to Tampa to make connections and that never happened so they moved to Virginia. In Williamsburg and then moved to Charlottesville to be closer to work but either way Virginia has great beer and great views to drink to.
