It's probably gonna suck and I'm already mad. Aside from breaking bad and a handful of others they don't have a very impressive history.

I would love to see WoT done as a series. However, I don't have faith any major studio is gonna do it well. I expect a bunch to get cut. If they do a book per season, then it's going to last 14-15 seasons assuming it even catches on and if they do the prequel book.

Saw a pilot episode, don't know who did it, but it was pretty bad. It only covered the intro as well, so you didn't even get to see any of the main characters.

Will just hope for the best and expect the worst.

Honestly, they could probably improve over the books if they cut a lot of stuff. He just got out of hand with the characters and plot lines as the series progressed.

Books 7-10 drag, but overall I quite enjoyed the series.

WoT could work as a TV series. I doubt it'll catch on though.

They probably missed the prime window to do a series, the last book came out over four years ago now.

Well, Sony Television has already had success with Wheel of Fortune. Maybe they're starting a whole line of "Wheel of" series XD

Who's your favorite character from "Bend It Like Beckham"? And you can't say Beckham.

That was actually a ploy by Red Eagle to keep the rights that were set to expire. There was a court case that got settled. Red eagle gets to have their name attached to the project but have no creative control. I saw it. It wasn't good but the dialog was accurate and felt they were on the right track costume wise.

Yeah, I knew it was made for something like that. Was glad it wasn't actually representative of a series to come.

I do have a modicum of hope for the series, since I did like the books. Even if it's not the best, I might be able to enjoy it. Hopefully they don't mess up my waifus in it though.

It's also going to get a lot of game of thrones viewers, but they've been so desensitized that they'll have the wrong expectations.

Yeah, WoT is pretty different. Ugh, the more I think about this the more excited I get. Who's your favorite girl from the series? I honestly don't think I could choose, but my favorites are Min, Avienda, Nynaeve, and Moirane. Nynaeve might be my favorite, but it's hard to say for sure, since they're all awesome. That's in no particular order.

Probably Nynaeve or Avi.

It would pretty much have to, considering the first third of the series is dull and plodding, while the last third is explosions and ass.

4-6 (MAYBE 4-7, and at the most 4-8 if you only count parts of 8) are about the only books in the series that are actually pretty strong narratively.

It's a very bad sign when someone else takes over writing the last book in your series (and has to break it into three books), and it/they wind up being better in terms of narrative and pacing than the last few books you wrote yourself.

Though talking about making TV shows out of fantasy novels, I'm kind of surprised that no one's done anything with Xanth yet. Piers Anthony seems like the sort of writer who wouldn't hesitate to license out the rights, and that's pretty much Baby's First Fantasy Series in a lot of ways (meaning it might appeal to kids and casuals who want something more "family friendly" than Game of Thrones).

Plus most of the stories are relatively self-contained, he tends to shuffle the older cast out and introduce new characters every few books, and he's written about 4 million of them, so it seems like it would be utterly perfect for a long-running TV show (whether live-action or animated) to adapt.

There's no reason why you ever should. Especially when there are a lot of better fantasy series out there you could be reading instead of spending time on 14 books worth of creeping disappointment and (no pun intended) wheel-spinning.

The most telling thing about how Wheel of Time was written was that it was originally intended to be written as a trilogy. Now think of all the ways in which a writer can expand three books into fourteen. The series uses every single one of those tricks, good and bad, over and over again.

What are some good fantasy suggestions? I've thought about starting The Dark Tower.

The Dresden Files is my second fav.

Wheel of time gets a lot of hate, some of it deserved. Dude would spend literally an entire page describing dresses. It's more a story about stories and a lot of what makes it good only comes out after multiple rereads.

I'm currently listening to the Dresden Files, and the Stormlight Archive is so much better. There are only two books right now, but a third is coming out in November.
