If I am going to pay a ton for mail-order food, I expect it to come cooked.

I tried it for a few months and the quality of the ingredients were really good and the recipes are easy to follow, but, I would never do it again.

To my understanding, Blue Apron is more to help you jump start into cooking your own meals. Some folks probably do not even know where to begin as far as ingredients, supplies, recipes, etc.

My friend's sister bought a kit for his birthday and beside one tray that he had to buy separately he was able to cook the meal using the ingredients and supplies provided. He said the meal was good it but found it to be too much of a hassle. I consider cooking almost like a hobby. You gotta enjoy it to get into it. If you're only doing it to sustain yourself that's fine but would definitely feel like a hassle.

I kinda find it comparable to some model kits. You buy the kit with the instructions and pieces all included and you assemble it. With Blue Apron you outta have the supplies and ingredients included and you cook it.

You can find lots of Blue Apron recipes on Pinterest if you want to learn how to cook.
For example, here are some of the recipes.

If you buy the food yourself as opposed to getting a box delivered you will save lots of money.

They only give you what you need for those specific meals. The plan I was on sent me two meals a week and they were really good but you'll still need to get groceries for your other meals for the week. Since you already know how to cook, I don't think this is the right thing for you.

I agree. You'll probably get better pricing on your ingredients if you buy them yourself instead of via Blue Apron.

If you don't drive there are some delivery service that would purchase the ingredients for you but it is still pricier compared to buying it yourself.

I could see it being useful for some things where you don't want too much of an ingredient

Like sometimes I buy fresh herbs for a meal and will use half or so making a dinner, and then 3 sprigs of sage going bad in my fridge
