I kinda feel like she served no purpose? Can I safely assume that she was just there to pander to a Chinese audience? If I was Chinese I'm not sure it would work considering her character literally just walks around, agrees with the black science dude, and then drives a boat for one minute before taking a nap on the same black dude.

Maybe they got a different edit of the film where she is important.

How is that movie compared to Jackson's?

I loved Jackson's.

Also, in Monster/SurvivalHorror movies, a lot of the characters generally don't serve a purpose.

I liked Jackson's too, this one is really cool though. Very different though. More action, felt like it anyways, I think it benefits from being set entirely on the island.

Either way, I saw the trailer for this and immediately fell in love with the cast. The movie just went completely under my radar though, for some reason. If it's still in theaters, I might get around to seeing it next week.

It was a pretty good film and I enjoyed it. I hope the sequel is better though.

If they had the skyscraper scene then kong be dead. They are building up for a monster universe where kong fights godzilla.

I mean, you can say that about everyone outside of Samuel L Jackson's character. They're all just there as fodder. I had quite a bit of fun with Kong, but it's not really a GOOD movie.

It's almost like not all characters need to be super important? Like all those useless soilders who were there to die to Kong.

She was part of the science team, that was her role. That's what she was hired for. And as you said, she helped out a bit in the last battle. Plus, love interest for black science guy.

I enjoyed the crap out of that movie.

Maybe she did really well in the audition and race was irrelevant

Except her character never really was in danger of being fodder. She was absent from nearly all scenes of action and danger, and never really overcame any obstacles

She was basically a prop

She was there so black guy didn't have to talk to himself.

But yeah, out of non fodder characters she was easily the most pointless.
