I don't plan on replaying it, and was just wondering since I heard with full points I can transfer my save to Trails 2 also on psp to get goodies and stuff.

You can, though you'll need to find a guide for dialogue options, those are what will get you. It's easy to get Bracer Rank 1, though it's still not as good as the Max BP quartz reward you'll get from the save data transfer.

I'm almost finishing chapter 1 and so far have gotten all the bracer points the guide has so if it's only 4 chapters I decided that I might go for full BP right now.

Would you say the data transfer to SC is that good? I'm someone who likes being overpowered in my games and one-shotting enemies, I enjoy getting as many broken weapons and spells as possible.

The Quartz isn't strong so much as it is convenient. People are obnoxiously vague when I Google it, but they mention item drop rate increase, so it must be the Luck quartz. Closest thing you'll get to being OP, I believe, is making sure Estelle is level 39 when you finish the game, that way her her level transfers. Otherwise she starts at level 35.

If you have any other questions about the game or story feel free to ask, I fucking love talking about these games lol. Hope you're enjoying it so far, Chapter 1 can be draggy but after the Sky Pirates enter, it takes off.

Appreciate it, I've been dying to find someone passionate about this game to talk to!

Only just started but definitely agreed on Olivier, the guy is hilarious. Almost every line he says has me either smiling or outright cracking up at the characters' reactions and his obliviousness.

Any advice on setting up quartz/getting spells?

You definitely can and if you are a completionist you are going to want to for the carryover save.

A guide will be 100% necessary to pull it off though.

All people should have the black speed quarts
Casters really should have the cast X and mind X quarts
Physical attackers should have attack X quarts, i GENERALLY put move quarts on my physical attacks but it's not strictly necessary.

Oliver + Chloe (party spoilers) are your primary casters
Joshua should be in EVERY PARTY
Agate (party spoilers) is an AMAZING attacker

Prioritize getting White Gehenna and hell gate on all your casters, aerial is also useful and can be used if you aren't able to make white gehenna happen.

Oh yeah, shadow spear is a good way to kill poms or agate's CP spam.

Yeah I have about a hundred save files right now because I keep making a new save after almost every event in case I missed something. Just before completing chapter 1 I was supposed to get a little black notebook at the sky pirates' hideout and I'm completely fuming at how anyone was supposed to know this without a guide when the game gives you no indication. Really glad I had a previous save to go back to.

I got that one, but it's because I'm an exploration whore in games like this and refuse to leave anything unopened. >_> Which I do suggest for these games, you get a lot of sepith and healing items by doing so. Sometimes some great equipment, too.

But what really bothers me is that I went through every corner of the room pressing x (I do this for every rpg, I'm ocd-ish like that) and I still didn't end up picking it up! That's what really gets my goat hehe.

Get a guide. I tried doing it on PC blind but being thorough and apparently I still missed something... somewhere and things can "time out" if you go too far ahead and vanish. Holy shit it's annoying.

Just finished Chapter 1. Cassius wasn't on that ship! I knew he couldn't be, no way he was taken by the sky pirates.

I also instinctively click on treasure chests in any rpg, or hell any game, twice, and really appreciate some of the hilarious blurbs the treasure chests have.

This game really makes me appreciate its humor, I think that's what I like most about it. The humor is unassuming and there are a lot of funny moments, even if it's anime cliche, the characters are just so adorable about it that I don't mind. Dunno how many characters the game will have in total, I'm usually the kind that likes to focus on just 4 well developed characters that are closely interlinked instead of 40 characters with no real characterization a la a certain other game.

Checked a guide and so far if the guide I used is right (I'm using Berserker_Blade's) I have the correct amount of 111 Bracer Points. Only 250 more to go...

If you have any other gameplay or battle advice please let me know, tips/hints/tricks are very much welcome!

PC version, if that makes a difference.

I'm new too so I can't really comment but I'm only going the completionist route because I don't want to replay the game and want to move on straight to Trails 2, with hopefully a lot of carryover from my Trails 1 save.

If you're not interested in that or don't mind replaying the game I don't see why you would also want to obsess about getting full bracer points like I am.

I adore the humor in these games, especially with Estelle and Olivier. Oh gosh. FC has 8 playable characters, all of which are developed well. If you can count on anything in this franchise, it's on fleshed out, realistic characters, even the minor NPCs like the Bracer guild attendants or the journalists.

You'll miss goodies, but nothing really you'll hate yourself over. They're useful, like Haze (enemies can't see you) or the Gladiator equipment (better CP gain rate) but not game changing.

Basically, this game introduces you to a host of playable characters, but you'll only ever have two static party members for the entire duration. In each chapter, you'll get party members rotated in and out as the story demands, which allows you to experiment with different party members, see what each of them can do, and perhaps appreciate them for the brief time they're in your party. If you develop favourites in FC, you can spend more time with them in SC.

Yeah, I barely use Tita except when I have to, or when I want to balance her levels in case I'm forced to have her in my party. Thank you, based XP scaling. Underleveled characters gain levels so much faster.

That does sound reasonable, I had a suspicion that Schera wasn't going to be joining us for long. It makes sense that this is a story about Estelle and Joshua's journey throughout the land, and they meet people along the way, I think that's what they must be going for.

That kind of reminds me of Grandia a little bit, don't know if they are similar but Grandia was also just about Justin and Feena going on an adventure and they meet different people in different lands.

Oh I didn't know you were actually interested, OK so right now I'm in Chapter 2 and going through sapphire tower, and thought I'd do the sidequests on the bracer guild board before I investigate the orphanage which just burned down. The helmet crab in that tower is kinda annoying though, it kills me with counterattacks if I try to attack it physically however I can't keep wasting spells on it, and it's annoying that Joshua's Aerial and Haken Gate can't one-hit kill it and the poms it summons. Wonder if there's a more efficient method to dispatching enemies like that.

It's funny, I'm only on Chapter 2 but have been playing for nearly 40 hours, and yet it feels like I haven't done much at all, so it makes me wonder how could that much time have possibly elapsed. I realized that all the walking back and forth from one town to the next just to read a tiny snippet of dialogue from NPCs caused all this time to rack up. Now that almost every little event causes NPCs to have new dialogue, I simply can't help but want to read every bit of it even if I just forget about it right after. I just want to read every little thing, and if I get a hidden quest out of it, all the better.

Glad you're liking it so far, especially with your enjoyment of talking to everyone. They're interesting, and some also drop tidbits about other events and countries. The missable books that get you ultimate weapons also feature characters/events that show up later in the franchise. Example, Carnelia is based around a character you'll meet in 3rd while its protagonist you meet in Cold Steel. Red Moon Rose are books in Cold Steel that will likely be very relevant in CSIII. Sky SC has Gambler Jack who's mentioned briefly in 3rd, but it takes place in Calvard so will probably be more relevant later.

This reminds me, now that I'm finally playing Trails in the Sky, I want to make a topic asking about the Legend of Heroes franchise in its entirety, since I'm kinda confused over the shared connection and universe of the games, and how the psp games that released way back 12 years relate to Sky, Cold Steel, etc.

Yeah, for sure. Tag me in it if you do. I try to search for 'Trails' occasionally but I forget sometimes.

With the old Legend of Heroes games, they're completely separate from what they're doing now. The Ouroboros-focused games start with Legend of Heroes VI Trails in the Sky.

I have Trails in the Sky 1 on PC and Cold Steel 1 on PS3. I'm kind of irked that they seem spread across different platforms.

They're all released/announced for PC except for Cold Steel III. They're all also on Vita except for 3rd.

It's no Kingdom Hearts. As mentioned the whole series is pretty much available on one system (Vita) including the weird freemium MMO. The biggest issue tends to be how outside Japan you've got to split between PC and PS3/Vita and even then they don't split up story arcs. Yeah CS3 is going on PS4 but CS1/2 tell a complete story that just happens to leave a lot of room for continuation.

She's very magically inclined, is probably the strongest spellcaster in the game, and is healing oriented.

I knew it, I knew the mayor was evil! Or at least I started to suspect something was off.

But wait... now it seems they're implying he was mind controlled too like the sky bandit leader. I wonder was that before or after he racked up a 100 million mira debt? Still inexcusable.

Likely after. Greed bends the mind of everyone, and the artifact's power is too tempting to not use.

Also, you're pretty much 3/5ths of the way done the game.

Am I? Don't I still have Chapter 3, 4, and 5 to go through, and I'm assuming they're long chapters.

Chapters 3 and 4 encompasses new areas, and chapter 5 is the finale. The first half of the game takes longer to complete than the second half of the game.

I hear that in Second Chapter Estelle starts by default at level 35, but you can get it as high as 40 if you do it in this game. But I'm only level 24, is it even possible to go up 15 levels by the end of the game? Enemies just give 1 exp after a certain level.

That means you're fighting weak enemies.

For the most part, yes. The entire Sky trilogy is on PC while Cold Steel I & II are announced for upcoming releases. Cold Steel III will very likely join them.

I wonder if grinding shiny poms is a viable method? I mean it's not at all necessary but just thought it's nice to have since I'm planning on doing anything and everything possible to carry over to Second Chapter.

On a related note I have to say it feels like Joshua is both my main attacker and caster, while Estelle I've mostly been using as a buffer for morale and I'm wondering if I should set her up as magic caster or attacker. Joshua's crafts and arts are great, especially since I have white gehenna and aero storm.

But is there a best orbment setup for the 2 that people tout?

Speaking of, Flicker is amazing. I went from seeing it as a pointless craft to one of the best, and absolutely a must to fight shiny poms; not only does it not miss, but it delays the enemies' turns. It's downright broken in that regard. I love it.
