So today I found something cool, the lowest serialed bill ive ever found, 00004847.

Its in ratty condition, and a pen mark on it(somebody wrote "40") but I figured it could sell being a low number.

Now, I even leveraged a trinary(0,3,9) to buy it out of my drawer, because I assume trinaries are cool finds but not extremely rare, I've seen a handful in my few weeks of hunting. Despite its poor condition I figure I might have something here, maybe not.

Gonna throw these up on ebay soon and see what i can get.

The three bills I currently have that I am looking to sell to dip my feet in the serial numbered currency market:

Series 2013 $5

MA 39977993A

Series 2013 $50

Series 2006 $20

Trinaries have only three numbers in the serial, so mine was something like 39933039

There are Binaries, which consist of two numbers, bonus points of arranged in cool orders, such as 44445555 12121212, 77447744, etc

then also the grandaddy of them all, I assume, uhh, singularies? i dont know if they have a name but 77777777, etc. I assume a serial of 99999999 would be the most sought after, but idk.

You can find those out there just like anything else, I assume. I dont think the 000000001 number is set aside by the mint or w/e, so if you simply get lucky its yours.

Those are worth a shit ton more than face value. Like a $1 would go for several thousand likely in any condition, i assume.

So lets see here. Since I am a cashier, sometimes handling large money, drawers with thoudands in them etc I check a lot of bills five days a week. At my workplace you can buy bills out of the drawer and you can leave the drawer open to sort through em. So, Im checking oh shit i dont know hundreds? 1-2 hundred a day if not more.

If I could magically buy every serial number I wanted if i were to start a collection and looked cool to me but not valuble+valuable maybe 1% of all bills would fit this criteria.

Bills worth more than face value(likely), my three I have, plus any trinaries I've seen or things maybe worth more than face, is literally the .1 or 0.01%

But its fun, its like playing the lottery for free. Not gonna make me rich(unless I find an extremely rare note) but I could make a few extra bucks while losing none.

today i found a 1945 Nickel.

Now, I didnt know what it was when I spotted it. It looked to be made of a different material or whatever, it shined oddly. I also thought there might have been a striking error as Monticello had no defining features on the coin and was smoothed out, but the back and everywhere else looked fine. I'd say it could be normal wear, and likely is, but it looked as shiny as the rest of the coin.

But it turns out this coin is 35% silver, this I could sell it at todays silver price and get 97 cents.

hot damn!

this war nickel looks to be in great condition. Though I am starting to think there is no error really, its just worn down. but its really shiny though. Its like the extreme features(monticello, his hair) were sanded down so it has little depth, but it looks shiny as hell and isnt dirty or anything. maybe somebody cleaned it up at some point?

Todays find that might net me more than face is a ratty(but fairly solid) series 1974 ten dollar bill with a massive printing error.

I would assume if this was caught my bill would instead be a star note? if i understand that correctly, but HOW DOES NOBODY NOTICE THIS

okay so im learning more as i go along. The 50 dollar bill with a fairly low serial star Im gonna go to the bank and deposit in my account. I dont see this as being worth the sell as its not that low (bill no. 90,585) and larger bills are harder to sell. People will spend money on one or five dollar bills with weird numbers like radars and flippers all day, because you can build up a collection of ones, but fifty and hundred dollar bills...it doesnt seem worth it unless the serial is super interesting because people cant just collect those, so a one dollar bill sold for 25 wouldnt scale up to a 100 dollar bill with the same serial being worth 2500. So while somebody might pay 15 bucks for a one dollar with serial number 90585 with a star, on a fifty its unlikely to sell for much as it isnt extremely rare and thats big money to have in a collection binder.

I also found a website, that I cant find at the moment that, if i read correctly, wants to buy bills ending in serials of 00 or higher. No clue what this means but I saw four bills yesterday in my drawers with serials xxxxxx00. So, seeing as I found four examples(and it seems like some bills people spend a lifetime of bank strap hunting looking for) in one day, I dont know who would buy it. I didnt do anything as i needed more clarification.

Now to find that website again...

Check yer serials.

Went to the bank, deposited my fifty bucks, then took out 500 to give to my mom.

so twenty-five twenty dollar bills, nothing cool among 'em. such is life. I've seen people blow through bank strap after bank strap finding semi cool stuff but nothing valuable. I certainly go through hundreds if not thousands of bills each workday and ive only found a handful I might be able to sell.

Somebody the other day said a $20 star note(random serial) could sell for 30. Are you kidding me? People would pay that for something they could easily get back in change/from the bank? Star notes arent too rare, i see several a day.

Today I found two cool bills:

First one is a ratty one dollar series 2009 Trinary with the serial arranged in a cool way

03330999

So we have a trinary, three digits. But we have it in a cool way. 333,999 separated by zeroes. Also 3s and 9s go together and they're in sequential order as well.

Second is a ratty series 2013 five dollar bill with a double

44664466

So we have a pair of double 4s and a pair of double 6s. Arranged in a cool way, though 44446666 or vice versa would have been cooler.

not bad find. Due to their condition they wont command as much as they could but we'll see.

Oh! last night my manager let me rifle through his bills in his wallet for treasure and I found something that might make money:

Series 2009 one dollar bill

Bookends of two, and repeater throughout. That makes $63 In potentially worth more than face currency ive got in the past few weeks. I feel like I could mine for bitcoin faster.

Okay so I found some finds after lunch

Another war nickel. beat up '45, but hey still worth silver value.

I found some other bills that looked interesting...lets see. may or may not keep. all ones.

04464686*
85575585
04009003
49730000

Probably not a seller there aside from maybe the star.

also learned something new last night. silver certificates are not redeemable for silver since 1964. Weird, I just figured they would be. by decree of the treasury.
