It's not impossible but there are times when the mods are plain wrong anyway. If there were a truly objective judge, you'd probably see twice as many overturned. Which still isn't much but just remember the mods are mostly kids. And by kids I mean 18 year olds who have this unwavering sense that they know everything. And the type of people that seem to stay mods until twice that age seem to never lose that quality.

You're better off accepting the moderation and moving on. It's their rules and their discretion or the highway. You don't have to like it.

Yeah, the ones I've had overturned were no different than some that weren't. They make shit up as it pleases them. It's not a perfect system. Just be grateful you aren't a mod. We're way more fortunate than they are. Can you imagine actually wanting to do what they do? Might be fun for a few tries on a whim, but screw doing that for more than a day.

Mods are lower level posters. Never forget that. We are gods to them. They have to clean up our posts when we shit the bed. We, on the other hand can come and go as we please. They're obligated. We aren't. The mods are like our custodians. We are the upper class.

Yep I've seen screenshots of ones that shouldn't have been overturned, including a couple where someone's privileges for contesting moderations should have been revoked, and I have seen plenty that should have been overturned but weren't because the mods and admins were adamant about misinterpreting what people were saying to them, disregarding their arguments, or redefining the ToU because gods help us if the original moderator was even wrong about the actual reason the message was deleted.

It's why I try not to post very often these days, aside from having a life.

I think I've had it once or twice, but they still leave my post deleted, which to me defeats the whole point. it's not so much the moderation as it was the conversation they destroyed that I minded.

other forums do that I think. if we type out a 3+ paragraph long response, and oops we use 1 word we shouldn't have, rather than destroying the entire post, why not just edit out the word for us? with whatever penalty, but at least let us continue the conversation.

If anyone still wants to defend the moderation system ever, remember: Ico still does his thing regularly and sees nothing wrong with it. Duckbear always comes back no matter how many times he is warned or suspended. Erik P is still here doing his usual bouts of trolling.

But if one of us makes a vague joke, even one where the punchline is literally how vague it is (and it literally says nothing against ToU), then you're out of luck because the admin will uphold that moderation, calling your explanation of the joke an admission of guilt.

I only ever got one overturned, and it was on a different gamefaqs forum than here. PotD I've never had one overturned, no matter how ludicrous it was. The last upheld moderation response, for example:

If somebody doesn't identify as a Nazi, then don't label them as a Nazi. That's offensive.

This was in regards to a Holocaust-denying politician (not a member on this site, even, a public figure).
But because said politician for some reason finds it untenable to run for office and "self-identify" as a nazi (gee, I wonder why?), my post was "offensive."

moderator discretion is a fucking cop out. the mods here tend to be absurdly biased, so when you get on their bad side youre sort of fucked.

I was happy, but the topic wasnt reposted but I gained my three karma back.

Its like, in that case, whats the point? Wouldnt have bothered to contest it if the topic wouldnt be reposted(even though i was right) because the fuck do i care about karma for?

I've been overturned once. When @wolfy42 (I think it was him) made his UNDERTALE topic, I was modded for unmarked spoilers. The mods agreed they weren't spoilers.

I'm still pissed for being modded for illegal activities. IT WASN'T EVEN ILLEGAL!
