In the books, they're 14 and 13 respectively at the beginning. In the show, I tend to think he's about 18 and she's 19. I don't know, it just feels right to me somehow. Always has. According to the Wiki we started in 298 and we're now in 304. They also retcon the Battle of the Trident to 281 (instead of 283) to age everyone up however. Which would make Jon 17 at the start of the series and 23 now. --- TimJab - Your 2017 User of the Year! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Well yeah but Jon and Dany's births are linked to events in the story so it's harder to play with their ages. The same can be said for basically anybody born after the rebellion. Six years seems a bit much, but maybe I'm just kind of unaccustomed to so much time passing in 10-episode seasons. Jaime and Bronn surface for air. The Sonic the Hedgehog timer was on its last 1/16th because they swam across the realm to elude Daenerys' eyes and Tyrion's logical deduction
these hills make me think of the Frostback Basin in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Very autumnal. I'm glad Game of Thrones remembered to make the South autumnal now that it's, you know, winter Jaime's hair gets darker every season, much like mine own "I have to tell Cersei" "May as well jump back in that river" Tyrion is scouring the battlefield like a prowler in heat. Man, he is not sure how to feel about all these dead people who were mostly probably not assholes. I got really tired of Rains of Castamere motif seeping into everything back in the day, but it's unworn its welcome and it's a pleasant piece again Daenerys is dressed so wonderfully for this burning ceremony that's being disguised as an anti-Cersei speech I really like this scene; shoutout to James Faulkner because he conveys Randyll's despair-turned-pride at Dickon's stubbornness super-well. Peter Dinklage has this brief wince at young Dickon right before it happens. Good times. Love everyone bowing before Daenerys immediately after the burning. Feels earned. I genuinely enjoy Daenerys, but I can't deny mid-seasons fare sometimes felt somewhat unearned for her
The Jaime/Cersei scene has more weight to it than some of their mid-seasons affairs, too. Djawadi is on fire this episode. I hadn't really noticed it so much the first time but I'm using my headset now and hot damn. The music in this Jon/Drogon scene is outstanding, especially the first ten seconds of it. Love how abruptly this happens, too. Another example of the more blockbuster approach to the series working in its favor to some extent; suddenly Drogon is interested in Jon, and Daenerys is interested in Jon. No words in this scene for a solid 100 seconds; this always stands out to me (in a good way).
"You weren't gone long" "No" "And?" "And I have fewer enemies today than I did yesterday" Daenerys learned from Stannis' grammatical tutelage; no wonder Davos is playing matchmaker So on the other hand, the swift pace of the season has Jorah's return to Daenerys in the same scene where Jon/Drogon happened, and that's a bit of a rush. Doesn't really detract for me, but might have been better as a later-in-the-episode thing. Sort of dilutes the purpose of the overall punch of this extended sequence Suddenly, ravens. The Night King looks at the ravens and they scatter. It's like... a deconstruction of the ravens being the all-seeing eyes of the dark lords of epic fantasy
I love these maesters chuckling amongst themselves and telling tales. It's like a BioWare codex until Sam paragon interrupts because plotoverdriveplotplotplotplotpleaseplotwehavesevenepisodesffs. Also this is the scene my friend finally commented that he likes "the guy playing that maester dude" and I got to express that Jim Broadbent is a talented character actor. Now the maesters are chuckling again. "Ahh, Lodos." *all laugh* You can really tell this ep was written by Dave Hill, who was originally responsible for those lore special features on the Blu Rays. Seeing Tyrion and Varys sitting down and drinking together in Westeros, albeit with rather... dwarven surroundings, is very nostalgic. All threads are bare; Tyrion knows (and is probably right) that he can trust Varys, so it's very third-season. "Did you read it?" "It's a sealed scroll from the King-in-the-North."
