I've always been a sucker for game cases, so I tend to buy physical versions of games. But lately I've been leaning towards the digital side of things, just so I don't have to deal with arranging/moving all the game cases and so that my niece/nephews don't lose my game cards (RIP DKCR for the 3DS).

Which do you guys prefer?

Also I feel like it would be more convenient to have them all already in your console/handheld.

As long as I have the option (a.k.a. it's not Ace Attorney), physical.

I prefer digital if I have the memory card room. But I'll still buy physical special editions with nice extras/steel cases if they appeal to me.

The difference between the two is swiftly vanishing minus the plastic you get with a physical version, and I'm running out of space for said plastic. PC "physical" versions are just cardboard boxes with digital download keys inside, and PS4 games install fully to your hard drive anyway and just use the disc as a "key."

I'll take digital for standard games if there's not an issue like consoles with very limited storage. Limited editions with actual incentives are a different story, though.

I switched to digital only when I bought my PS4, it's pretty great. I honestly did it because I was in my early 20s when the PS4 was released and I knew I wouldn't be buying a home anytime soon. Moving is already a pain and I didn't want to add another console library worth of stuff when I knew I'd have at least another couple moves before truly settling down somewhere. What I didn't even think of as a benefit is how great it is to just switch between games without ever getting up, or the fact that if I decide to bring my PS4 to my girlfriend's place all I ever need is the console and controllers.

The one exception for me was Persona 5, I cared too much about the special edition extras, and I got it for the same price as the regular edition through Amazon so it was a win-win.

Physical.

If I had more space on my systems it'd help. But my internet speed is also way too slow to download full sized games.

digital is the best because it's so convenient. I just press a few buttons and it's mine. much better than a half-hour walk to gamestop, or having to wait for a package to arrive in the mail

Still physical, not just because of the satisfaction of having a physical copy, but also because you can trade or resell a physical copy. Nintendo's especially bad about not passing their savings onto the customer in any way - digital copies are simply worth less than physical copies because they are less permissive about ownership, but they cost the same. It's great on Steam because their practices are less shitty and you actually get games for really cheap. I'm all about digital if the prices come down, but until then it's just a rip-off.

I prefer physical because the few games I still buy are always collector's editions

and also because digital on PS4 doesn't unlock at 12am eastern but at 12am west coast so fuck that

Digital easily. Like Drake said, it's too convenient and doesn't waste physical space. With the state of consoles now, there are fewer benefits to owning physical copies.

That being said, Nintendo is the exception for the wrong reasons as Para pointed out.

Physical, but I dislike digital less now than I used to. Maybe I'm stupid, but is there any reason why I have to use a disc when a game is installed on my PS4? I thought having the physical copy installed would be the same as a digital copy and you wouldn't need a disc after unless you uninstalled it, but apparently not. Maybe it's specifically because of that?

Digital. I don't have the space for physical, it's easy to misplace physical games, I don't like taking games out of the cases and putting them into the console, it's way easier to just click play, I'll never lose my games or have to worry about that thanks to Steam, digital is way cheaper if you're a PC gamer, etc.

physical

selling games off if I'm in a jam is how I've survived many times in my life

also if you have a digital game and it ends up sucking, you're stuck with it forever.

Almost always physical, even to the point of spending more to get it.

I don't like digital because if I lose the console I lose all the games with it. Granted stuff like Steam and Xbox Live have fixed that problem, but I'm just stuck in that mindset now. Plus I like having a collection I can touch

Physical if it's something I only plan on playing once (which is most games). Digital if it's something I think I'll go back to a bunch.
