The only time this ever happens to something good is if there is some big twist involved. The Force Awakens didn't screen, I think.

This happens more often with TV shows, but usually with established series and usually only for season finales or otherwise 'big' episodes. A bunch of GoT episodes didn't screen.

To not do it for a pilot seems like a real bad sign
