Let me start by saying that I am all for freedom of religion and have no problem with religious diversity. With that said one of my neighbors for years always wears a long scarf on her head and a long dress, I assume she has never been to a beach/pool, I have never seen her hair in these years etc. She dresses this way in 90 degree weather and I only simply wonder how does she survive? It is not something forced because her husband, son, and daughter all dress and act like conventional Americans. Well earlier on my porch she was walking from her car to home lifting her dress almost to her knees, I was shocked to finally see her flesh for once, but I found it odd because today is finally feeling like fall. I have lived in NE for almost 30 years and this has been the hottest fall I have ever witnessed. Is this not some sort of violation to her faith?

It sounds like you don't know this person and should not be making assumptions about her faith

One thing people here need to understand more is most religious people dont follow their religion as strictly as it dictates. Especially in western countries.

I am non religious, label me atheist. I just wonder why after months of scorching hot days she finally shows her legs on a windy fall day. I feel like she is willing to risk her health by walking in heat covered head to toe but the minute we get some clouds and wind she lifts up to cool off (I know it may because those dresses hit the pavement but she never cared before). I can't help it, I smoke around 15 cigs a day and she probably takes 10 trips a day outside. Her husband wears shorts and listens to rap in the car, so does her son he plays COD on the porch swearing on the headphones eating burger king. If anything it conflicts with the constant preaches people tell me about Islamic women being controlled in America.

I don't care about religion but this is honestly new to me,everyone is sweating in shorts and t-shirts, skirts etc. and she just covers up like it is freezing out. I am sorry for being ignorant but it confuses me.
