I'll go first with one that I doubt I find any support on:

Ocean's Thirteen. Goddamn great film. "You shook Sinatra's hand... you should know better." Pacino's last good role by my reckoning, and it moves quickly but without supplying you every detail you should need. Plus the aesthetics of the casino and the style of Danny is perfection. Also, the nose plays.

Watchmen still one of the greatest movies of all time. Had to listen to a bunch of my relatives trash the movie at a wedding a month or so ago, so I'm particularly upset about this one right now.

i think i liked the change to the ending more than the original

but i also don't like how Snyder turned the human heroes into super strong badasses

like, that's exactly what they are meant not to be

Bernie

Might be my favorite film from 2011 (that or Moneyball), but Jack Black's performance as the title character was my vote for best, and I don't think that I've seen a movie or show that used the mockumentary angle as well as this.

Resolution, my favorite film of the decade so far. It's a pitch perfect deconstruction of horror films and storytelling in general, with an incredible slow-burn plot that unravels into one of the most spine-chilling mysteries I've seen played out in a film. And the lead actors are pretty great in it as well.

The Rundown, probably

I mean it's just a dumb action movie but it's awesome. I think dumb action movies in general tend to be underappreciated because there isn't a lot to talk about with em. Like you can't seem insightful or unique by saying one of your favorite movies is The Rundown because it's not "deep" or whatever. But man sometimes I just want some mindless fun.

It was a mixed bag. Comedian and Rorshach were exactly what they needed to be. Night Owl and Silk Spectre were probably too skilled. Ozymandias is in kind of a gray area where he legitimately should be peak human but they pushed him into minor superhuman territory.

Passing Strange

If you like rock musicals like Rent or Spring Awakening, check this one out -- I think it's significantly better than either of them. I love how personal a story it tells along the way; artist's struggles, traveling the world, how religion/family/love/music are all gauged against each other...it's fascinating, and they have the writers on-stage narrating the show and playing the music. They filmed it on-stage too instead of making a movie out of a play, so there's a lot to love here.

The Rock isn't even considered good-bad imo, it's legitimately one of the best action movies. i mean, it's good-bad in that every action movie is inherently good-bad. but as far as the genre goes, it's arguably at the top

Not sure how common that actually is. But screw them.
