Gazillion is in California. It's illegal in California for a company to take back vacation (which PTO probably falls under).

Yeah, this is so dirty and disgusting to not only the employees but the players too, and there should be lawsuit coming out from this. Players should have x amount of time in an MMO game after purchases are made to play with what they purchased. But they are cutting it entirely too short.

One of the few 'free' games I actually put money into. I paid for Squirrel Girl up front rather than grind to unlock her, and had loads of fun bombarding everything with squirrels.

I think I still had some unspent cash left over, because I managed to get pretty much everything else I wanted for free, but I haven't played in ages- after finishing the story I never felt much incentive to go through the same plot again with someone else, and the promised extra story chapters never materialised as far as I'm aware. Plus, they apparently released a patch that ruined everything, but I don't know how bad it got exactly.

Shame to see another game rendered forever unplayable though. There should be a law that any 'always online' game that shuts down must release server code or something, so that players can revive it or set up a local server to play offline.

From what I have heard they are refunding almost all money spent on the game recently. One guy said he got $390 refunded.

Okay, that's not too bad then. Still really crappy to close it earlier than advertised, but what they're doing to the workers is awful.

I'd definitely be in favor of this. I suppose the argument against it is that they can reuse the code to sell more crap in a new game and releasing the code lets people copy it. But games are the only media that can become completely unusable short of a book purge or something.
