Pre-show: Dory d. Razor (64)

Flair is here to kick off the GAUNTLET FOR THE GOLD between Steamboat and Jones! They're both raring to go despite their disadvantageous placement. (86) The resultant match is...surprisingly lackluster, with Jones getting the big win. (64)

Time for the women's corner. The Glamour Girls are putting themselves over when Vivian Vachon notes that there's no gold around either of their waists. Debbie Combs also comes out to point out that Vivian doesn't have any either, and maybe it's time to give somebody a shot who didn't lose in the finals! (33) Meanwhile, Madusa d. Jackie Sato. (43)

Sheik, Koloff, and Humperdink question why we have a "metal" PPV when it could be about OIL! Sheik has plenty to spare, it just costs extra for American pigdogs. (77) Tenryu finds Snuka and tells him to warn Jones, because Tenryu's in the Gauntlet too and Jones isn't gonna make it. (57)

Ventura wants to preview the chain match, but that is TOO INTENSE FOR TV so we get a regular ol' strap match instead. The good news is Meng is the opponent and the NWA Title is on the line! Meng is tough as nails, but Ventura is a little craftier with use of the strap, and that ultimately enables a win. (71) Lawler taunts Terry Funk about the chain match, but Funk isn't worried. Funk knows how to hogtie a bull with a rope, so the only difference is that hogtieing Ventura with a chain is gonna be that much more satisfyingly painful. (77) Michaels meets Hansen in a match. As has become the norm, the kid gets to display some heart and some athleticism before jobbing to the big mean heel. (77)

Bruno is incredibly frustrated with his time in WWF. He's lost to Ventura, he's even lost to Tenryu....he's gotta shake himself up. He calls out Rick Martel and challenges him! The whole Style and Substance family appears, and Martel questions what Bruno is gonna stake, because he certainly hasn't earned a shot at the IC Title! Bruno thinks a sec...and risks his CAREER! Martel will take that wager. (61) Bruno's career ends (again) with a whimper, as Martel manages a clean win, and not even a particularly thrilling one at that. (69) Style and Substance gloat, and mock Bruno as he quietly takes his ball and goes home. But here comes Tony Atlas! Bruno was a legend and deserves RESPECT! S&S, watch your mouths, or you're gonna get WRECKED! They should give somebody their own age a TRY, but if they step to Atlas, he'll just make 'em CRY! Martel is getting annoyed at these. (56)

Tully Blanchard talks about metal. Iron sharpens iron, and he's continued to sharpen himself in WWF. Now he's a lethal weapon, and the only question is who's gonna get cut. (92) Parkamania go 2 on 2 with Death and Taxes in the main. DiBiase gets another big win! Too bad, kids, this is All-Heel Wrestling tonight. (74) Muraco comes out to declare that DnT should know their roles in the WWF, because their skills don't match their confidence to be putting up a suitcase of gold. Jake agrees that pride cometh before a fall....trust him. (62)

Pre-show: Rheingans/Blackwell d. Baba/Tsuruta (70)

We open with the gauntlet for #1 Contendership! Jones' first defense will be against La Parka, who makes a good account of himself. Jones gets the win, but he has to use a chair to do it! (59) Hogan runs out to object to this skullduggery, and gets in the face of Jones. (and Snuka, once he comes out for backup) Flair comes out and says that he doesn't much like it, but the ref's decision is final! (81)

Velvet MacIntyre is still happy to be the inaugural women's champ, and looking forward to defending it! (38) Three way tag match! The Glamour Girls, the rather dysfunctional Vachons, and the team of Debbie Combs and Madusa Micelli square off to try to settle some scores and get momentum towards a shot at the belt. Debbie Combs gets the big win after Luna Vachon lays out her own partner. (42)

Cap'n Lou introduces Sika and Leon White as...The Super Albano Bros! (49) Sheik and Koloff bully the Harts a bit. (56) Michaels and Snuka square off next. Snuka is able to replicate his partner's win, and doesn't need the chair to do it, although it takes some work to keep the rookie down. (71) Future Perfect regale us with some trivia about different metals. Osmium is the heaviest metal, which may or may not be something we knew in 1985 but Future Perfect are THAT FUTURE-Y AND PERFECT. (51)

Mr. Fuji wants to manage Tully Blanchard. Tully Blanchard does not want a manager. (74) Still wandering out dressed like a rapper, Atlas defeats Luis Edwards while the latter complains that he's a few years ahead of the trend. (55) It's Style and Substance's turn to interrupt Atlas instead of the other way around! Heenan challenges Atlas to a RAP BATTLE tomorrow night! (68)

Butch Reed makes a deragatory comment about Stan Hansen's weight. This does not end well for Butch Reed. (60) Funk takes on Tenryu in a strap match, mirroring Ventura/Meng from last week. Much as with that match, Tenryu puts up a heckuva fight but isn't a main eventer yet. (76) Ventura and Lawler come out to yak with Terry and Dory about the NWA Title Chain match, but no real plot happens. (79) In the main event, Death and Taxes keep their momentum going with a win over Muraco and Steamboat. Can anybody stop them? (80)

Wk. 2, 6/85

Pre-show: FoF d. Afa/Bundy (64)

The Funks talk about how they have experience with chains, working on a ranch. (that's a thing right maybe?) Terry will be right at home with Ventura! (65) The gauntlet for a shot at Flair continues, as Jones attempts to turn back Windham's challenge. He almost makes it, but Hogan interferes! It's payback for cheating to beat Parka or unjustified interference, depending on which announcer you like better. Windham gets the win either way! (57)

Debbie Combs and Madusa were victorious on Raw, but now there is debate over which of them deserves a shot at Velvet MacIntyre. Velvet appears and points out that Debbie DID get the pin for the team. (38) AKIO and Tenryu catch up with each other. AKIO misses All Japan, but Tenryu has moved on. (49) Michaels and the Harts have a chat about Sheik and Koloff- they're jerks, but Michaels and Steamboat can handle them later tonight! (44)

Heenan and Atlas are set for a RAP BATTLE. Atlas' rhymes are CHEESY, so this'll be EASY, because Bobby the BRAIN will bring the PAIN. He'll whip him black, blue, and ORANGE, and....wait shut up he's gotta think. Atlas laughs Heenan off- Heenan raps like JUNK and he's goin' DOWN, cuz Tony Atlas FUNK is enough for this CLOWN. He's gonna TELL you all something VITAL- He wants MARTEL for the IC TITLE! That is apparently a win for Atlas, judging off everybody's reactions. (63)

Very nice little throwaway match has Hansen put down Hennig. (76) Cap'n Lou continues to hype White and Sika as the Super Albano Bros! (44) Jim Powers interviews Tully Blanchard, who doesn't have a date for Heavy Metal Mayhem but is thinking that the briefcase of gold looks pretty nice. (69) Steamboat and Michaels prevail over Sheik and Koloff. (75)

Death and Taxes are still confident nobody can take their gold....but even if somebody could, DiBiase has plenty to spare! (60) Tonight's main event is a triangle tag clash of champions: WWF Champ Flair has recruited Muraco to aid him against NWA Champ Ventura and his sidekick Lawler, and IC Champ Martel replaces Tag Champ Snuka's already-booked partner. Martel and Snuka can't quite find a rhythm, and lack the plot armor to keep up with the real main eventers. After they're eliminated, Ventura and Lawler are able to squeak past the faces through superior teamwork/rulebending! (74)

Overall: 71 FAILURE

we've been really tanking recently for some reason

momentum is abysmal for a lot of dudes, ratings are way down, storylines are bleeding heat, and I'm not really sure why on any of it (save for a couple of shows in weird places like Hawaii)

Is it a case of too many big names leaving and too many new guys getting over too slowly? Plus the womens division isnt exactly helping. Should scrap it for an international title for none Americans.

Neither of those factors are HELPING but I don't think that's the reason because even guys like Flair and Ventura aren't quite firing on all cylinders.

Hmmm that's interesting. I wonder if there's some secret factor that can just cause spontaneous combustion like that I've never really played a TEW game that long where I was on top.

For the storylines are you keeping on top of keeping them updated regularly? I know a storyline's heat will tank hard if you overlook giving it a segment for X weeks in a row. Might just tank hard if it's too old too. And then of course guys being in dying storylines lose a bunch of momentum too which causes their contribution to segment ratings to tank so it could snowball.

Muraco and Tully both think they have what it takes to bring home that suitcase of gold! (86) Snuka is set to challenge Windham for the IRON GAUNTLET....but PARKAMANIA take him out on the entrance ramp, continuing to avenge Parka's cheap loss to Jones! Jones comes out for a 2v2 brawl, but it doesn't look like Snuka is gonna make it to the match. (69) Instead Windham will defend his spot against Razor Ramon...and does so admirably. (73) Afterwards, Genichiro Tenryu comes out to remind Windham that he's next in line! (60)

A large bathroom break transpires as Velvet and Vivian defeats Madusa and Luna. (45) Debbie Combs has a rather suggestive chat with James J. Dillon, wherein she convinces him that she has earned #1 Contendership and he has earned some other things maybe. (61)
Steamboat puts away Tsuruta in a good old fashioned one on one wrestling match. (71) Sheik and Koloff are also in the "we're gonna win the battle royal" holding pattern! (74)

Tony Atlas bops his way to the ring and goes over David Schultz. (64) But Martel and Heenan jump Atlas afterwards! (44) Hansen supports Funk's bid for the NWA Title...because Hansen is real good at beating up Funk for titles! (75)

Lawler beats Hennig for no particular reason other than good action. (82) Ventura cuts a kinda weird promo about breaking free of the chains that bind him instead of letting them strangle him like they're gonna do to Funk. (83) Flair and Rheingans team up against Death and Taxes. Looks like this pairing finally has DnT's number, so the heels bail for a countout loss. (89)

Overall: 76 MIXED, poor storylines

I usually roll all my old ones into new ones (at least where I can) and usually that works fine!

I think it looks at that after the show too, so if you can get enough of your storylines to a good rating over the course of the show, you don't get dinged.

It really, really wasn't. K2SO was the only thing that kept me from falling asleep during that stretch. I mean don't get me wrong I liked that blind Jedi wannabe and there were moments here and there where RO wasn't a total snoozefest but the pacing was really really bad.

Also I still managed to nod off

My computer is probably not long for this world, and I'm trying to decide whether I wanna bother unlicensing and re-licensing TEW 2013 just so I can keep this going on the next computer. What do y'all think? I'm still kinda enamored with the idea of carrying a game through many years, but the novelty has worn off and there doesn't seem to be tons of reader interest at this point and the temptation to start a new file is always strong

and if I DON'T carry this over, what would you wanna see for my next file? 1006-verse? 90s? 2000s? Something crazy gimmicky? I figure modern day has enough diaries going right now >_>

I think 90's would be my pick if a change in universe is on the cards. (See what I did there) I'm more familiar with the guys from 90's too so that would be a bonus. I'd like to see you try and break into the monopoly that WWF and WCW had at the time. Taking a smaller or original promotion and just seeing how far you can get before you get swallowed up. I'm also fine with continuing with the current story or something gimmicky like say a tag team only fed or women's fed or a foreign superstar only company.
