The only thing that's really changed for me since that writeup is the story did get more interesting, but it didn't have much to do with the characters in the present time and nothing they were saying and everything to do with reading and listening to data files to uncovered what happened in the 2060s with Project Zero Dawn.

Not an especially difficult platinum, but I came into it with the DLC all released so I worked towards those trophies as well. Still need to do the two NG+ trophies which I might work on right away while I listen to more Giant Bomb GotY deliberations. Once again it's a pretty simple 100% completion platinum. Beat the game, do all sidequests, learn all skill, find all the collectables etcs. Everything is marked on the map so they're hard to miss. As long as you're exploring every data point on that map you'll come across everything eventually.

Next planned playthrough is Nioh but I need to get back to Xenoblade 2, I left off at the beginning of chapter 4 when I decided to focus on finishing this game before the year's end.

You don't even need to do all the sidequests. Only some are necessary for the platinum.

I'm not impressed until you 100% The Frozen Wilds on Ultra Hard. You won't.

For the NG+ run on Ultra Hard, skip all cutscenes and avoid all unnecessary fights. It should only take you somewhere between 5-7 hours depending on how good you are at exploiting the weakpoints of some of the machines, how many resources you had saved up on your first playthrough, and if you use all the knowledge you got in your first playthrough of what the fastest method to get through every mission is. Basically, multiple arrows notched on a powershot bow (headshot optional) on human enemies, use the blaze canisters when they're obvious targets to blow through fights (there's one mission in particular that needs this), use the shield armor, know how to take down the deathbringer fast (either freeze+rattler or powershot bow on the weakpoints when they're exposed, or both).

Also if you slide+roll when you're forced to go somewhere on foot, it's faster because the slide makes Aloy travel farther at the very start of it. Gotta cancel it with the roll before the slide goes on too long though or else Aloy will slow down a bit.

damn really

i mean it was good but fuck me I played that on Ultra Hard NG+ going for the trophies, so I was locked in. That shit was hard as fuck. The new adept bows were sweet and the 3 new machines were good challenges to face but I really wish I played it on Hard or something, not Ultra Hard. That's a difficulty I don't think I enjoy to face throughout the entirety of a game >_<

I think the main game has gotta be there, and Frozen Wilds doesn't quite add enough substantial new stuff outside of the story and lore additions for me to say it's of the same quality as the main game or higher. Like, the adept bows are sweeeeeeeeeet, but those elemental weapons weren't great additions and really fuck trying to take down two fireclaws at the same time on Ultra Hard, gotdamn

Oh I know how SHINE works, his trophy-hunting ways made me want to start being a trophy hunter too. Now I feel wrong if I'm not aiming for a platinum trophy in a game :/ In fact I wouldn't have done Frozen Wilds on Ultra Hard if I wasn't locked into it and didn't have a save file to go back to an easier difficulty on.

Fuck those SMB trophies, no one is the ace of games if that's the qualification.
