It is pretty accurate yeah. If you go into a fighting game expecting to play competitively, you are either going to spend the rest of your life in training mode or doing first to 100s, or you are just going to be shit and be unhappy.

I remember just seeing that a pro player (I think it was Momochi?) broke up with his girlfriend to focus on fighting games.

They are insanely difficult but not as hard as FightingGames ( )

It showcases the personal lives and dedication that pro players (Daigo, Tokido, NuckleDu, XiaoHai, Luffy, and Gamerbee) put into SF5.

- Daigo plays until 5AM
- Gamerbee plays 8 hours daily
- Tokido lives in the Topanga "fight club" basement to train daily
- XiaoHai dropped out of school to spend more time training
- Similarly, Luffy quit his job to train more
- NuckleDu is an oddball - he doesn't enjoy playing video games yet is one of the strongest players

What normal person has time for that? I have a full time job. I have bills. You have to be rich or in ssomeone's financial care for hat dedication.

To be fair, it's not a COMPLETELY terrible idea, assuming you've worked out what you're going to do long term; there's a reason Starcraft was once known by the meme of "South Korea's national sport". The reality is that competitive gaming can potentially be more lucrative than anything you'll ever get without college/connections, but that's also a very small hill few can ever reach, with even less room for those that do.

It's only difficult if you want to play on that level, pretty sure that's all meaningless if you play with friends or online casually, sure you're gonna get your ass stomped online every now and then by some ultra try hard, but that happens in every online game.
