Doesn't the revised ds4 have a smaller light bar so probably better battery life?

Anyway, I used a wired controller so I don't really have that problem..

see post 41. the touchpad is the major battery drain, the light bar is nothing compared to that.

though, I still think mouse and keyboard on Mac/Windows are still the most precise in my experience

Mouse, yes.
Keyboard, no.

I can see your point. The mouse is the precise pointer, but I guess I always assume an FPS (I should have said I was talking about that genre since I was talking about it for Xbox) on a Mac/PC uses the keyboard in conjunction with the mouse.

Everyone should just use that revolution controller. It's like 10 dollars more than a ds4 and way better

I truly don't understand people that complain about the battery life of the DS4. Go buy a 2nd one. Keep one charged, doing a gaming marathon, just switch them out as needed. There's your extra battery life.

I mean, I always keep a second controller in general for all my consoles, ok?

I figured most people did too, anyways. It's a good backup, good for when friends are over (a problem you probably don't have), and sometimes it's good to have just to see if your primary controller might be faulty or malfunctioning, ok?

Thu don't always break or become faulty. Personally, except for mine wiggling out every once in a while(I usually just disconnect and reconnect or switch if I don't wanna deal with it), mine still work fine. But I've seen lots of people who's controllers just stop working while playing something. Maybe they're a little too rough with it, though. Haha. Either way, I still find having an extra controller different than an extra system, car, tv(though I do have more than one tv in the house), etc...

I tend to agree with you, but the weird thing is that I only have one PS4 controller and I am doing just fine. However, I have multiple controllers for all my other systems. I am sure that I will get a second PS4 controller at some point, but truth be told, I haven't had a reason to need an extra controller for the past year I have had my PS4 Slim.

To be fair, the move towards online multiplayer and the sharp decline in couch co-op make it less and less necessary to own a second controller. I can see people not owning extras on newer systems, but I still have a need for them. Sometimes my wife will play Mortal Kombat with me, or my kids will play LittleBigPlanet. Its handy having at least one extra in my experience.

Agree. I actually bought my wife an XBox One controller, but she has yet to use it for gaming, and we have had it for a year. What she does use it for, however, is to turn on the console and start Netflix and the show she would like to watch...so at least it is getting SOME use! :)

I have about 8 Atari 2600 joys all in varying condition, but they have come in handy with my little ones. I give them the more beat-up ones that still function right. The nice thing about 2600 joys, they can take quite a beating from a four year old.

Buy a new controller and make sure it is the new sku, or don't, I don't care.

yeah. the new controller lasts about an hour or two longer than the old one.

we've already established this itt.

you might get about 8 hours out of it.

you literally cannot get 20 continuous hours out of a 1000MaH battery discharging at 3.5v

Well I do so I don't know what to tell you; been playing horizon four hours a night for a week without a charge so unless the controller faeries are coming to charge it while I sleep, it has lasted for over 20 hours.

When you say continuous hours you're talking about different play sessions, right? You're not talking about continuous as in contiguous are you?

Not that it should matter but I want us to be on the same page.

https://www.amazon.com/PS4-Controller-Replacement-Battery/dp/B010CHFEF6

You're welcome.

Also, since it's a lithium ion battery, you could replace it with literally any lithium-ion battery you can find of any mAh.

http://www.tenergy.com/30005

This would make your ps4 controller last 26 times longer. I have this exact battery, it's about the size of my thumb. I modded it into my Bluetooth headset.

Actually, with that link you can't really buy it.

https://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Li-ion-2600mAh-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B0081NAZNU

There you go. This exact battery.

It will explode (or rather, fizzle like a firecracker somewhat slowly) if you mishandle it. The protective circuitry prevents you from short-circuiting it and blowing it up, but denting it after throwing it might.
