It certainly has the weakest story, but the battle mechanics are nice... once you unlock them all 4/5th of the way through the game. Has the least memorable music... except for the main battle theme (and I can't even remember any other song in the game except perhaps the title theme or the theme of crystarreum or whatever it's called) But it's also underrated because the good bits that poke out of the turd are legitimately really good... and it also contains the singular most dramatic moment of all Final Fantasy's, easily in a top 10 of most dramatic moments in any RPG... .... BigOlePappy 03/19/18 12:00:19 AM #21:	8's gameplay was the least satisfying of any of the installments for me. 1. You could break the game with Ultima junctioning early in the game. 2. There was no reason to level because of the scaling, thus, not really a reason to engage in combat (which is advertised as being a big part of the game.) 3. They pretend like you can totally use the menu based combat options if you want... But they went out of their way to make it so annoying and cumbersome that you're essentially forced to use the real time combat. And that means you're forced to let the computer control your party. I hate games where the computer controls my party and I can't stop it. Its why I don't like 13 or 15. Fuck Squall and every single thing about his shitty game. Overrated - FFVII, easily. Too many people praise it as the greetest RPG evar because it was the first one they ever played and nostalgia is a hell of a drug. But it's mid-tier FF at best, and not even the best RPG released in the year it came out. Underrated - I'm tempted to say FFIV, but that's pretty much the Internet hipster game of choice in the franchise, so it's hard to call it underrated.
