The fouls aren't supposed to be even. If one team committed like 86 fouls tonight (KSU) you call all of them. They committed between 4 to 5 as many fouls as we did. Literally every drive the entire game, virtually every rebound.

I didn't want to say this during the game because it sounds so lame but honestly if you know what kind of team Kentucky is or should I say was then interrupting our offense every 8 seconds and forcing us to shoot a bunch of free throws without Ever Getting momentum is actually a good way to make us likely to lose

Oh.. know. That's exactly why the refs did it. Neither team gets momentum or rhythm. Which helps the junk defense team.

And no, I don't think that there was some conspiracy to get Kentucky to lose by calling lots of fouls against Kansas State. I'm just saying... We ranked like 300th in the NCAA in free throw shooting this year

I wasn't saying their defense is bad. I was saying they are a junk team which is defensive. Under no circumstance are they scoring 80 on us. A game with rhythm they literally can't win. Hence why the refs called 60 fouls.

Kentucky honestly didn't seem to play many of those all season anyways. A lot of their games were close grind them out games. The state at the end even said how they were 7-2 in such close games. Which states moreso that Kentucky probably had a slightly better record than they should have had.

Edit: You had more high scoring games than I thought. The pretty clear pattern I see though is that if you didn't score a lot, you usually lost.

UK looked like garbage, and all I remember seeing at one point was the foul graphic which had one KSU player out and 4 OTHERS with 4 fouls, and some ungodly number of FTA for Kentucky.

You should watch the game. They fouled on every possession the entire night, offense and defense. They had to foul on defense to not get ran out of the building. They fouled on offense to create separation and get rebounds. So needless to say our kids weren't big on shaking the hands of a bunch of inferior thugs... They also committed at least 2 and debatably 3 non called flagrant fouls... because again. Thugs!

I'm not MWC, but he's not wrong that a huge percentage of those turnovers happened because fouls weren't being called. There were plenty of times you watch the replay and they'd clearly slap the player's hand in the steal.

The fact that numerous fouls were called does nothing to change that.

Consider this hypothetical game scenario.

Each team gets 100 possessions.

Each possession has 1 of 3 outcomes:

1) made lay up (2 points)
2) defensive foul (2 points. For simplicity)
3) defensive foul doesn't get called. Turnover.

Team A commits 70 fouls, and 30 are called.

Team B commits 35 fouls, and 20 are called.

Who wins?

The team that gets away with more, even though they had more fouls called on them.

Now obviously not a realistic description of a game. But it illustrates the idea.

It's also an oversimplification by assuming every defensive foul that doesn't get called results in a turnover.

If you say only 20% of them result in a turnover, you get the same outcome.

the takeaway is that just because KSU had more fouls called against them, that does not logically imply that the officiating style didn't benefit them more overall.
