feb 9: meme about Archer and Futurama, shows we like. I replied, she replied, I didn't reply.
feb 13; pic of her hamster in her pocket. I replied, she replied, I replied, she didn't reply (though I didn't say anything that merited a response)
feb 14; says happy valentines day with a pic of her hamster again, said "hope you weren't too lonely." I said nah I had Batman as my valentine (I was watching Batman Begins). She replies "yay!". I don't reply
feb 16; pokemon meme. I give a six word reply, no follow-up needed.
feb 19; pic of hamster in pocket. I said how adorable, she asked what to get her brother for his birthday, few one-liners back and forth
feb 20, 11AM; archer meme. "Hah those are good" is all I say.
feb 20, 5PM; pokemon meme. I don't reply
feb 20, 730PM; Scrubs meme. I say that was funny, I should watch Scrubs again. Short conversation about Black Panther, she said "I went with my new person." Good for her, hopefully that means she'll stop texting me
feb 20, 8:07PM; video of guy saving dog. I don't reply (unintentionally)
feb 20, 8:49PM; meme of Black Panther wearing pink stuff in a movie trailer for "Pink Panther." I say "lolol that's clever."

shortly after that is just a meme about weighing things in units of corgis.

what the hell is happening, i mean she has a "new person" so why tf am I still her first person to text

this is kinda what it was at its worst. it's tapered off, but now she's back to back sending a few memes again. second-to-most recent one i didn't reply to (because i legit forgot). most recent one was sent while i was driving, i looked at it at a red light and then forgot to reply because the light turned green and i forgot to reply because i had already marked it as read

so i reply like four hours later saying something like "lolol that's good" - totally nothingburger, no reason for her to reply. but nope the reply she gives, not 60 seconds later, "how are you?"

good god, woman

i feel bad not replying because we had a totally amicable breakup and i don't wanna be a dick. i kinda wish it was an awful breakup so i could just hit that young block button and never bother again

She can't know what you're thinking if you don't tell her. The fact that you're replying to her makes it look like you also want to be friends still. The classy, adult thing to do is tell her you've been thinking about it and you need some space from her. If she doesn't stop messaging you, block her temporarily without saying anything and take the block off when/if you're ready to communicate again.
