Im tired so Ill go more in-depth about spoilers tomorrow, but the entire movie is just so half-assed. A mess of writing and editing. How did the script get past the first draft? It was just so underwhelming and did a disservice to everyone for no real benefit.

I'll watch it, but I don't think Mako's in it so I only half want to watch it. It'd be a must see for me if she was in it.

I see you talking about the writing, but in all honesty, with Pacific Rim and Transformers, all I want to see is giant robots fighting things.

I want to see one of the robots have a special move that sends it so fast it travels to the sun, uses the sun's gravity, like how they did in Apollo 13, then come back to earth with a sun gravity velocity attack on one monster.

Makos in it and... shes one of the problems.

Also...They do a variation of your little sun gravity technique in the movie.

Rinko Kikuchi can't be a problem. It's literally impossible.

Is it even worse than the 1st one? Does it even have Charlie Day in it, the only thing worthwhile from the first one?

The first moive story was pretty bad too. The love story felt to force and written in. I love the conscept. i think that's the only reason why i like the moive. it fetl like power ranger x monster hunter the movie.

awe Steven S. DeKnight is the director and not Guillermo del Toro. that could make a big difference.

I thought it was good. The fights themselves were decently coreographed, they just didn't stick the landing as well as the first one when they'd finish off the fights. The one on one fights with the rogue Yaeger were my favorite parts.

It was indeed.
I just wonder though, why the fuck doesn't they just nuke the shit out of the monsters?
Is this movie in a parallel universe where humanity never invented the atomic bomb?

Do you not know how nukes work? You want them to nuke a monster that's rampaging in the middle of a metropolis?

I didn't care for it much. It was ok, but the first half felt boring. Once things escalated it was ok, an average action monster movie, but I don't feel that's enough to redeem it entirely.

Also, it very much confused my cousin. He thought Mako was a digital person entirely, because she was a hologram in one scene. So he didn't understand why it mattered when she died. Plus, he thought the other Asian girl was her too anyway. I've been trying to explain that there were 3 different female Asian characters, but he just can't understand that they weren't all Mako. *sigh*

Nuke them when they're not near any cities or before they get near to a city?

Yeah, Im sure they would nuke them if they could, but whats the fun in that?

You want a plot hole? Look no further than the second act of the movie. Charlie Day someone managed to build a rogue yeager in a tundra somewhere, so when Boyega and Clint Eastwoods son go to investigate, it immediately gets blown up by the enemy. But theres a problem here. We dont get told, specifically that the bad jeagers are built there, but, later on, when the rest of the drone jaegers morph... they were all from the assembly line, and not from the factory that got destroyed before they could investigate. So what was the point of that factory that Mako died to give the information for?

I thought the movie was excellent. Sure, its full of plot holes and story non-sense, but if you go see a movie like that for intellectual stimulation, you need to rethink a few things about your entertainment habits.

I went to see it with one goal in mind: seeing big robots and monsters bang on each other while eating theater popcorn. I was not disapointed (and for that goal, this one was better than the first. It had a critical improvement: half the dialog was not a dude yelling "MAAAAKO" non-stop. First one made me wonder if I was watching a spinoff of FF7 with all that mako talk).

Yeah I love watching giant robots punching shit.
It's the same reason why I like the Transformers movies.
I hope we get a Pacific Rim 3 eventually though, so we can have a complete trilogy.
