i think the most 'sane' point conservatives bring up is out of control spending and their desire to curtail it to prevent economic disaster, but they delegitimize themselves by going after "entitlement" programs designed for struggling people instead of corporate welfare subsidies (along with decreasing tax on the ultra wealthy) when wealth disparity is at an all time high. also just looking at this most recent spending bill it seems to me as if none of them really believe any of the fiscal responsibility rhetoric they ran on.

Those entitlement programs combine to make up over 2/3 of the federal debt. You absolutely cannot fix spending without massive cuts to entitlement programs.

And "wealth disparity" is just more Communist bullshit from the left.

it has nothing to do with communism, a strong middle class and a living wage are great thing for capitalism. during points of extreme wealth disparity we witnessed economic disasters such as the great depression. believe it or not, capitalism functions better when people have some portion of wealth to spend and put back into the economy. why do you think stimulus packages were ever a thing during the last recession? i suppose bush was a communist that hated capitalism.

The wealth disparity you're complaining about is entirely a result from there being more self-made millionaires in America now than at any point in history. Upward mobility is a thing.

And I notice you're only countering the last point - not the one about how complaining that we can't touch entitlement programs is EXACTLY how we're in the financial quagmire we're in right now.

In one year.

It hasn't been more than 18% of total federal spending in over a decade previous.

It's still less than 20% of the national debt. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, however, combine to make up 65% of the federal debt.

It literally is entitlement programs sucking us dry.

That doesn't make sense. George W. Bush doubled the debt from $5.8 trillion while Obama added $7.917 trillion.

Everything you mentioned existed previous to both their administrations. George W. Bush only managed to pass a Medicare plan.

What doesn't make sense about it? You don't think Social Security debt just disappeared, do you? No, it gets bigger at an exponential rate every year because we spend far more than we take in every year. Medicare and Medicaid are fiscal black holes that nobody ever manages to reduce spending on.

The spending bill only address discretionary spending which is about a third of the overall budget which includes mandatory spending (mainly entitlements) and interest payments.

Absolutely. Conservative policies are a necessary antidote to the evil of the modern left. Who's going to fight against racism and protect the first four amendments? Who's going to keep the economy out of the toilet from unrealistic regulations? Who's going to teach all these leftie assholes that bigotry and segregation is morally wrong and outdated?

Global warming - and science in general - is racist and sexist. Also, you have an 836,942% chance of being shot the moment you walk out your front door. That chance increases a hundred fold if you go to school.
