Now that Machado is certainly getting traded somewhere (probably the Dodgers) I wonder if the Orioles might also be able to trade off Zach Britton before August. He looked really shaky coming off the injury but his latest performances have been solid

Obviously like Machado he should have been traded last year and won't get the greatest return, but it would be something.

True, he was, but as a Brewer fan I can tell you that over the past few weeks, Hader has been really shaky. He's been giving up runs here and there, and even when he isn't, there's a lot of activity on the bases usually. Looks like he carried that over to the all-star game.

I also just saw the story about the Hader tweets. Yikes. This is not the kind of attention this team needs right now. We were hoping to get Machado too, to shore up our infield. Looks like he's going to LA instead.

Now that Scully has retired, them and the Mets are the best 2 you'll get - I say this without bias even though it obviously exists, cuz you'll find them at the top of most rankings and they are incredible. Radio too.

Anyhoo, the Indians got played hard. They're already a basically guaranteed playoff team so its an acquisition to go from playoff team to WS team which is usually dumb. How do you give up that much for Hand, while the Nats gave up so little for K. Herrera?

Familia has been here so long. He was truly a dominant closer, who is going to be unfairly remembered for one series, three games, two of which weren't his fault, but he was really an excellent closer Mets fans never truly appreciated. Gonna miss that guy. Jeurys Familias 6 out save in Game 5 against the Dodgers was the greatest thing a Mets reliever has done since the 1986 World Series.

I like Michael Kay. I think he's improved a bit over the past few years. Still not as good as the Mets booth though, which is why I always watch SNY for subway series games.

Cespedes' chronic issues requires surgery and 8-10 mos recovery time but hes trying to play anyway. When the Wilpons knew about this months ago. Yet he rehabbed and he's here trying to play through it anyway. Gee, I wonder why. It's official. Familia to the A's for 2 prospects and slot money.

Familia has been here so long. He was truly a dominant closer.
He had his share of bad moments, as any closer does, but it was far outweighed by his great ones. Loved watching his pitches move, he was unhittable at his best. He was easily the Mets 2015 MVP. No chance they're a playoff team, or go as far in the playoffs as they did without him. He gave us a completely dominant 2015 NLDS and NLCS - completely unhittable in those games.

The 6 out save in the NLDS vs the Dodgers was the greatest moment a Mets reliever has had since the 1986 World Series. And of course, the NL Pennant clinching moment in Game 4 vs the Cubs in the NLCS. Some Mets fans didn't like him, and unfairly so- of all the people I'd blame for the Mets losing the 2015 WS, Familia is absolutely last on the list , those games were not his fault (Save Game 1 but sh). But I believe many more will remember him fondly, or at least I hope.

Mets trade away one of the best relievers in team history, the return is questionable, and not one of the three assistant GMs addresses it? That lack of accountability is the clearest sign yet that the Mets baseball ops is now being run by new GM Jeff Wilpon. This brazen lack of accountability tells me that the folks running the New York Mets think that you, the fans, are dumb enough to accept this nonsense. Its quite insulting.

For a franchise that operates in the largest market in the league to do this -- and do so ten days before the trade deadline rather than waiting for someone to offer a legitimate return -- is embarrassing for the Mets and for Major League Baseball as a whole.

The international slot money the Mets are getting is probably the most valuable part of the return, and that is utterly embarrassing for a marquee franchise in the largest market in the sport. Dealing major league players with immediate value for petty cash isn't the way to run a low-revenue franchise like Tampa Bay or, well, Oakland.
