Tokyo Ghoul :re spoils

In the anime they should have killed his useless ass at the auction

Aogiri was so badly run that they let this useless garbage hang around for some reason lol

South Pole 9 - In your face.

South Pole 10 - lol the stuff Kimari says in her sleep. Suddenly Christmas time and Yuzuki running away with best girl title

South Pole 11 - oh hey finally Hinatas turn to get some character. Shes just sorta been ignored in that aspect til now. Good episode though this lovesick girl obsessed with this Yu guy was kinda annoying despite having very little dialogue

South Pole 12 - how in the world was that laptop able to turn on still? I feel like it wouldve been completely and utterly ruined by years of intense cold or at least needed a brand new battery or something. Other than that was a fine episode

South Pole 13 - oh yes character development haircut and XFD troll ending with Megu

Solid series with good visuals, music and characters. Probably an 8/10 or so. I dunno. I liked it, but I dont think I loved it as much as the rest of you. Feels hard to rate the series for some reason

Also swordz electronics are subject to cold all the time - think of them being shipped and such. The issue is using them when they're cold. If you have a laptop turned on in the cold for a while, you'll definitely wreck the battery (and maybe other parts? Not sure about that). It's fine if it just sits in the cold turned off though. Also you can use laptops even with no battery if they're plugged in.

Most probably arent subject to arctic temperatures unprotected though? I mean that thing was like frosted over with ice and apparently just fine. I guess a better question is how it thawed without getting water all inside it. Doesnt really matter I guess.

Anyways havent decided on my next anime just yet. Leaning Jojo part 4

Kirishima just can't let his boyfr- bro for life go without a fight

It's great how these episodes are when every week it feels like it's been 5 minutes when it's actually been 22 or so. I'm excited to see how anime only watchers take the next few episodes especially THAT FIGHT

I've now finished both seasons of Overlord and I enjoyed them a lot. There are some things I could complain about, like how it glossed over a lot of things (seriously he got transported to another world and I don't think there was a single moment where he theorizes about what actually happened) but I still liked the stuff it focused on. I've always loved OP characters, at least when they're handled right, so this anime was a lot of fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the third season.

Started the SAO spinoff thing today.

I generally like in medias res, but not when literally the only point is so you can make the first episode of your show be an action sequence. Otherwise it's been relatively good though.

I started watching three new anime today and, sadly, wound up dropping two of them after three episodes each.

First, Hanasaku Iroha wasn't for me. Every single person in this anime was a jerk and I can only handle that sort of thing if the focus of the story is about the main character ruthlessly destroying them. Ohana got sort of angry at times but otherwise there was every indication she was going to bear the abuse for 24 episodes and I just don't think I can watch that.

Second, Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl (aka Denpa Onna) made it onto my list when people here talked about it a few weeks ago. I figured I would like a weird alien girl but she wound up being so low-energy and boring. I also wasn't a fan of all the erotic teasing between the main guy and both his cousin and his aunt.

On the plus side, while I don't see it becoming a favorite, Golden Time is still holding up after seven episodes. I'll post more about it once I finish it in a few days.

I didn't like Hanasaku Iroha for similar-ish reasons, though my issue was with the main character and not with anyone else. I didn't finish it either though I did make it to like episode 11 or something.

Golden Time...uh...there's a lot to like there. There's also a lot to not like there. I'll probably comment more specifics when you finish.

I didn't mind the setting. Konohana Kitan and Kakuriyo are both recent anime about a girl working in an inn that I enjoyed a lot! This particular inn just seemed like a terrible place to work.

GGO is thankfully written by someone who didn't write the original. Thankfully.

Edit. I misread that as questioning if it was written by someone else or if he improved. Whoops.

This is a really common sentiment but uh I am not agreeing with this at all.

Of course, I think normal SAO is relatively good anyways. It's not without problems, but really neither is this. They're just different types of problems. (Again, I use the word problem somewhat lightly here as I think both SAO and the SAO spinoff are good overall)

Reki Kawahara is Japan's Stephanie Meyer.

I've only seen 3 GGO episodes so far, but it's pretty funny how much better than SAO it is. Not really fair with almost 50 episodes for SAO to get awful, but we'll see if GGO spirals in the same way.

To me SAO has some highs, but also a large collection of things I like to nitpick about.

Those things add up and I end up souring on the series, Kirito being near perfect just kills the tension because of the story they're trying to tell. I'm not necessarily against guys who always win, but he's guilty of all the common complaints one would have with that archetype.

SAO's entering that space Bleach used to occupy with me. Where I find a lot of ways to complain about certain plot points or actions, but will always keep coming back for more, because it's one of the more fun series to discuss.

Huh, I might go back to it then. I was down with most of it (girl being forced to move to a new place and finding herself is usually something I enjoy) but that inn became hell for her right away. If things improved even a little bit I would've been okay with it but there was no sign after three episodes.

Sakura Quest does look good, thanks! I'll try to watch it in the near future depending on whether or not going back to Hanasaku Iroha works out.

In the meantime, I just finished Scorching Ping Pong Girls. I wouldn't call it amazing but it was definitely enjoyable the whole way through. They did a great job at making the table tennis matches fun to follow, and all the characters were great (especially Koyori). Also Hanabi in this was basically a grown-up version of Sacchan from Mitsuboshi Colors, right down to having the same high-energy mannerisms and voice actress! That was fun to see.

That was mostly intentional because I don't necessarily like saying things that might give people strong expectations of something ahead of time, but:

SAO Alternative Episode 5

That episode was basically all kinds of bad nearly across the board and is right up there with the ending of the actual GGO arc on my list of worst SAO episodes. It's like all of the random edginess and laziness of the regular SAO series but without any of the emotional weight or solid directing that made SAO worth watching for me despite it's often shaky writing.

The one complement I'll give is that the choreography of the main action scene of this episode was quite good, but unfortunately that's just not something that ends up mattering much to me.
