Thoughts dump:
I didn't expect Gamora to die here since I read GotG3 is going to focus on her a lot, but she'll probably come back to life by way of Time stone like the rest of the "dead" Thor learning to control his powers without a hammer was one of the main plot points in Ragnarok, yet here he is saying he needs another hammer to beat Thanos. Kind of silly backtracking here OMG I want to punch Quill for ruining the plan to remove the gauntlet from Thanos. But since Dr. Strange has seen all future possibilities and knows which is the one that leads them to victory, I believe he saw that Thanos needs to get all six stones in this scenario. I don't know how they're going to beat him, but I'm definitely hyped for part 2 Vision got killed... twice. Poor guy, he was just one big target in this movie. Would he have survived if the stone was successfully removed as intended? It's definitely curious the original Avengers were the ones kept alive. Hopefully part 2 explains the why I was waiting for Ant-Man to show up the whole time because I figured everyone except for Hawkeye was going to make an appearance, but I know he's being saved for when the focus shifts to Earth Good movie, may rewatch with my friend who hasn't seen it yet. Iron Man is awesome. Scarlet Witch is awesome. Dr. Strange is awesome, and I'm very happy they get ample screentime here --- Long live Saint Seiya!! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Going to movies by myself was something i used to be embarrassed to do, but moving to a new city with only a few friends meh who cares. So many people stay inside all day anyways now so its kinda hard to get people to do anything
Infinity War was solid, but the criticisms that I have are: 1) Hulk/Banner was pretty dumb, also had some really cheesy lines. They also kinda turned banner into the butt of every joke with very little else. 2) Cap/Widow/Falcon/Panther/Winter Soldier I thought coulda used a bit more time on screen that wasn't just fighting a horde of monsters 3) Thor needing a hammer after spending Ragnarok learning without was kinda poor i agree Not the best, but a pretty solid MCU film --- Casual Revolution 2007 - 2016 ... Thor didn't need Stormbreaker for his powers or anything, it's just specifically designed to kill Thanos and has nothing to do with his powers like Mjolnir did so I don't really see it as a step back.

Yeah, Thor doesn't need a weapon for his own powers. The issue is that his own powers aren't good enough to defeat Thanos, so he specifically sought out a weapon that could do so.

Some writers write Hulk as two separate personalities that dislike eachother vying for control of one body like Scarlet said, some writers have Hulk as a really dumbed down version of Banner. Hulk becoming more articulate in the first version is the Hulk personality learning over time like a child, while the latter is just Banner becoming more and more in control of himself in that form.
I'm a much bigger fan of the first version so I'm super happy that's what they are doing here. --- The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG ... Copied to Clipboard!

Thor's hammer is basically Jarnbjorn from the comics, which is the axe designed specifically to kill gods. They just called it "Stormbreaker" because it's cool and I guess because they tried twice to fit Beta Ray Bill into Thor movies and couldn't find space so they figured they would throw his hammer a bone at least.
I think they did a bad job explaining how powerful that hammer/axe is, they put it on full display in the comics when it's first introduced by showing a young Thor --- Is this Elite Beat Agents 2? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I don't think we've seen Strange open a portal to another planet. Besides, it not like there's a rule saying an infinity stone is the only thing capable of doing what it does - The Power Stone is an obvious example, force is a pretty normal concept. But other forms of telepathic abilities have been shown in the MCU, it's not just the Mind Stone capable of it. I'm sure the Reality Stone also isn't the thing capable of illusions and I'm sure it's not the only thing capable of transforming one object into another.

Yeah, i think the difference is that Mjolnr was a weapon designed for Thor to help focus his powers. We never saw it happen in the MCU, but ostensibly the hammer would have also granted the powers of Thor to someone else, were they worthy and tried to wield it.
Stormbreaker is a very powerful weapon that requires someone with powers on the level of Thor to even wield. If someone without the powers of Thor or powers equal to them tried to wield Stormbreaker, it wouldn't have granted them power, it would have destroyed them. It does kind of feel odd for him to seek a new weapon right after dealing with losing his old one, but it's an interesting distinction in purpose. I'm curious to see what might happen in the future. Thanos almost certainly would not have been able to wield Mjolnr, but I wonder if he could wield Stormbreaker? It sounds like he could, but almost noone else we've seen could. --- The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG ... Copied to Clipboard!
