How are these games? Skylanders Spyro's Adventure is the 3DS version. Should I just sell the games?

I'm a fan of Platinum, but Diamond/Pearl aren't as fun or good.

Keep Pearl if you like pokemon (it's one of the weaker mainline games, but still playable), sell Dark Dawn, idk about Skylanders

Yes, any of the Gen IV games work.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but aren't D/P the worst to do it with? In Plat and HG/SS, you just have to beat the story to unlock Pal Park, but don't you have to complete the Sinnoh Dex to unlock it in D/P?

I believe you just have to see all the pokemon, which should happen naturally in a normal playthrough

You must complete the entire Sinnoh Dex in Platinum to unlock Pal Park as well as D/P.

Also, only if you don't miss anything. Several only appear on a single trainer somewhere in the world. A few of these trainers are in completely random routes you never have to take, and even if you do you never have to fight them. Some kind only be found in the wild in singular or obscure spots.

I remember in Platinum the only place in the entire game to find Hippopotas was wild in the Ruin Maniac cave, which when you get there will likely be tiny and you won't spend much time in there at all. Even if you stay in that small hole for 5 random fights there's no guarantee you'll see one. I remember this because it ended up being the last one I found in the entire Sinnoh Dex.

Ah yes, that's right, you do have to complete it in Platinum. I remember now I had to trade with someone then trade back so I could add the roaming fairy to my Dex because I never found the fucker.

But in HGSS you just have to beat the story. And pretty sure just the main story, not even the Kanto story.

You don't need to find the roamer. It automatically adds it to your Dex when you talk to it to begin the roaming process. I'm pretty sure I never came across it once.

All you have to do is see something, not catch it.

Bulbapedia says that Unown was the only non-legendary not used by a trainer in Diamond and Pearl. And it was a 100% spawn in the one place you could find it. But yeah, like you said, some of them are in pretty obscure locations. Like Riolu, where your options are to hatch the egg or search the basement of the cave from the beginning of the game that you were only in for 5 seconds.

Pretty sure some trainer in the world uses one because I never did Iron Island until I decided to breed a Lucario.

Quagsire can learn Surf, Waterfall, Strength, Rock Smash, and Flash.

But damn I never realized Bibarel learned 6 HMs

There's a trainer in that cave that uses it, you can't actually catch Riolu there. Another guy uses one, but only in Platinum.

Maybe they changed it in Platinum? As far as I remember just talking to it in the cave auto added it to the dex.

Yeah, it definitely worked that way in Platinum. I think it did in DP too, because I got the National Dex after I beat the game, and I'm pretty sure I didn't catch Mesprit until after I triggered Cresselia to show up too.

Don't have the Skylanders portal but the third save file had two scanned in and only about 50min played. I was super confused when I tried starting a new game and it got to the portal part. Also the presentation values for the opening segment was surprisingly bad.

Game itself is fun but a lot of stuff pops into view. Also, needing a whole bunch of figures to do 2 of 5 challenges for every level is a bit overkill, not to mention the levels locked behind figures. Despite the gamrplay and level designs being very solid the paid figure 'dlc' is slammed down your throat at every opportunity. Could have been a really great Spyro game but whatever.

Will end up selling Pokemon and Golden Sun. I want to convince myself I like Pokemon... but I really just don't. I have X and Moon and find them pleasant but that's about it. Never beaten either, get bored, can't imagine any Pokemon is any different. Golden Sun sounds like a huge disappointment.

Im not fully sure what your issues were, but to me theyre the same game essentially, but one has a weirdo pseudo platforming stage that is a complete chore to play

I think there was some missed potential there but it was trippy fun

I reckon if they do a remake, Ultra Beasts will show up there or there'll be like Distorted Versions of other Pokemon or something
