Haven't touched Sun since I beat the Elite 4, waited for a 20 fucking minute ending credit scene, and caught Tapu Koko.

People rank gen 6 pretty low, but 7 was by far the worst of the franchise.

I personally like ORAS the most, and I play that way more than Sun.

I usually don't transfer everything to a new game. At the very least my in game team usually stays intact.

I had a living dex and 40+ shinies that are collecting dust in the boring-ass region of Alola

Gen 3 is still the worst for me. Hate the region and most of the Pokemon.

The only real benefit ORAS had for me was the perfect loop for breeding on the endgame island. Just hold a direction and go.

The series hasn't been the same since GEN 2.
The series kinda went downhill from there.

Partially agree with this.

Too bad we'll likely never get another Gen 5, due to the backlash it got and due to GF going balls in with the Gen 1 pandering.

ORAS was great, up there with HGSS as the best games. then again, I put like 300 hours into emerald back in the day so i'm biased
USUM is better than SM, but don't get it unless you can pick it up for $20 or less

I'd put FRLG up there, but the QoL improvements gen 4 made make it hard to go back

Gen 7 was fine, IMO. Not great, but good.
ORAS had a great post-game, but they did that thing where they remade an old pokemon game without bothering to enhance the number of pokemon available(until practically the post-game). Of course, I ported in some pokemon from Y, so it didn't bother me much.
X/Y were pretty weak though, particularly on the heels of Gen 5. Basically, Plat through B/W2 were as good as the series has ever been.

Tbh, I kinda agree with this. I know people like to crap on Gen5 a lot, but BW2 were pretty awesome.

Gen 5 in retrospect is pretty good. They changed a lot without making the game seem totally different.

The new pokemon were incredibly boring, but the rest of the games were solid.

Even though Gen 5 were good games on their own. Gen 5 was also pretty much the start of power creep Pokemon that were once strong defensively pretty much felt like paper to the new standards introduced in Gen 5.

Even though new gens have introduced new pokemon each gen, new additions before gen 5 felt the same power wise as earlier gens. Personally I think gen 4 was the best for competitive battling, because you got the special/physical split buffing pokemon that were only bad due to their stat and typing not working favorably.

I don't see why people are annoyed to have their Pokemon stuck in Sun/Moon. You're pretty much guaranteed to be able to transfer them up to the inevitable Switch games. They won't be stuck there for much longer.

I don't own a switch and a new Pokemon game isn't enough to convince me to buy one.

I really hope gen 8 is a soft reboot for the franchise. Moving to the Switch helps in many ways
I really would not mind it if they looked at the existing pokemon and changed some types, stats, and movepool.
Get rid of a lot of bloat and have a clear vision with 800+ pokemon. I'm fine with a new region that introduces ~30 pokemon and maybe a bunch of regional variances, but also retools the existing stats and such.

It's just that while I like Pokemon, it'd be nice if they addressed the problems and helped streamline (without dummying down) the games.

They tried exactly this with Sun/Moon.

Yeah, while I did have some favorites from Unova, I found many of the designs rather dull.

I've been thinking of making a "Fix That Pokemon!" thread. Whether by evolution, mega-evo, a new form(Kantonian form is appropriate, by the sound of the rumors), stat boosts, new abilities, and/or straight stat buffs, it would be our mission to improve sorry garbage like Swalot, Fearow, Crabominable):, etc.

Gen 5 will always be the best, it had the balls to actually place complete faith in its Pokemon and have them be the stars, instead of usual where theyre just tacked on to the same Pokemon weve been using for 20 years.

No, what they did with Sun and Moon was add more stuff to the pile.
What I'm talking about is clearing it up, not just tacking on extra features.

I would be interested in that sort of thing. It's always fun to "build a game" as it were.

Gen 5 was def my favorite of all time. The story was the only time a Pokemon game actually stopped and made you think about what you're doing in the games. It was cool to have a villain that challenged the very fundamental of what the games have been about for once, instead of ridiculous plots about flooding the entire planet or taking over antispace.

So you care enough about Pokemon to be upset your years of work of training is stuck in a game you don't like, but not enough to get the newest entry of the games when they eventually release?

Ok.
